Engine under tray - loose captive bolt?

Noticed today that the nearside (left hand) front bolt on the stainless(?)/aluminium engine undertray was hanging off - it feels like it’s attached to a captive nut which has worked loose?

Anyone else seen something similar?

Any ideas on how to re-trap the captive nut? 2019 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8, Byron Blue

The captive nut is a “cage nut”, i.e. it sits inside a spring-clip which simply slides over the chassis.
The part number you need is LR038815, about £4 each.

You’ll have to remove the front plastic panel (4 clips, pulls forwards) and the whole tray to get to it, but why not seize (no pun intended) the opportunity to apply aluminium anti-seize to all the bolts at the same time, to save grief later?
The 2 frontmost bolts (without clips) fare the worst for corrosion.
The centre rear 2 bolts only need to be loosened several turns, not removed completely, as the tray is slotted for them.

What happens is the spring part either rots or gets broken by using power tools.
The job is easy DIY if you have a set of ramps. Thumbs Up V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!
