RED DPF restricted performance half way down France

Hello all, am looking for some advice. I'm halfway down France and the RED warning has come on, performance restricted. We've been sat on the autoroute all day at high speed. I've got a GAP IID tool, am considering my options. Car mileage 137000 ish, was running fine before this.

1 - Crack on with the trip tomorrow in restricted performance mode, the car will do 100kph, enough to keep going on the smaller roads. The questions is, does this cause further damage? (250 miles to go, heading to the south coast.) I've got time once arrived at holiday location for whatever needs to happen.

2 - Force a regeneration with the GAP IID, see if anything changes - anyone know how to do this?

3 - Find a Landrover garage in France (any recommendations just south of Lyon?) and have it fixed.......ouch, time and cash

4 - Not sure.

As a note - When I turn the car off it remains running for 10 seconds or so before the engine actually turns off. It's not done that before. It does sound a bit wheezy.

My concern is pushing on and damaging further the system, thoughts appreciated.

Any error codes ?

This thread has a few clues as to possible causes - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic64236.html

Have you checked for any poped hoses on the intake? A failed throttle plate control would also give the delayed shutdown and not throw a specific code. It’s easy to check by removing the plastic intake elbow and seeing if the plate is loose. Also an easy fix by replacing the throttle body. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Simple 5 minute job, check the MAPT sensor for being blocked with dirty oily crud.
Well known cause of DPF warnings.

Thank you all for your thoughts, to update.

Checked the hoses, all seem ok. Throttle plate also intact. There is a code for an O2 sensor circuit general failure. I have seen this before a few times when scanning the car, not sure this is the issue.

Looking in the throttle body / intake, it's quite oily, I guess this will have made the MAPT dirty, will give it a blast with some sort of cleaner tomorrow. How much oil is too much in the intake? Could this be the issue?

I'm thinking to force a regeneration tomorrow, then select filter changed (I'm assuming this is what resets the red warning?) I guess if it is actually blocked the error will soon come back again.

All exciting stuff on route to holiday Smile

If you do a Forced Regen, then the Red DPF full warning will clear automatically once the soot reading drops below 25g ish.
No need to do a DPF changed !!!!

Definitely DO NOT do a ‘DPF changed’ action. Oil and soot buildup is totally normal. The issue with the O2 sensor should be investigated as this could be causing regeneration to not happen and other engine fuel management issues. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Not familiar with GAP tool but is it saying your soot mass is 32.9grams?
If so, according to this chart you are well over the level when Active Regeneration is inhibited (28.5grams)!
thats another reason why its not started a AR.
And at 32.5grams the filter would prevent further starts.
If above is true you I would agree with Baltic Blue and do a forced AR. But no idea how you would do that with the GAP tool.

The oxygen sensor may well be a reason the AR didn't start in the first place, however.
There is also a mileage trigger that starts an AR when you reach the average distance between AR's + some unknown %, which is probably a back up of some sorts? Interesting to know what your average distance between AR's is?

Good luck 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

It’s really easy, just follow on screen instructions and get it over 25/30 mph on a good road.

You will see when the temperature goes up and the soot level starts to fall.

Press Quit when it’s finished.

I am sure it’s what a dealer would do, but charge you many Euro .
