Rear washer not working

Hi all - I’ve swapped over the washer nozzle for one of the fancy eBay twin nozzles.

The washer never worked as the jets and hose through the motor were gunked up.

Trying the washer for the first time, there was a very brief dribble of water and then nothing. I thought the jets may be blocked, but they’re clear.

I assume the water flows from the same washer bottle that does the fronts (which work fine), so looking for a little bit of guidance please on where to start troubleshooting.

Cheers

Jonny

My guess would be the one-way valve situated in the supply pipe behind the tailgate trim. Jonathan

Take the pipe off the non- return valve and try again.
If you get water then pump is OK and non return valve valve is blocked.

There’s actually no water coming from before the non return valve. All fuses seem ok as well.

Problem solved - hands up who selected the “rear washer and wiper won’t work with the tailgate open” option.

All sorted, getting a good squirt through the exposed nipple. I’m re-painting the wiper arm as I can’t get a new one in the right size anywhere for decent money.

Might as well treat myself to a new wiper blade as well seeing as I’ve made progress !

Incidentally, the one way valve won’t work if you try and blow through it. It’s almost as though it’s blocked, when it isn’t. It just needs sufficient pressure to operate the rubber diaphragm inside, so before thinking yours is blocked and buying a new one, be aware that you can strip it down by separating the top cap with the arrow on, from the main body with a Stanley blade.

well done Sir Smile

I bought one last year off ebay for £1.50 , NRV 4mm, seems fine, I think it was for an aquarium or pond
