England 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Well fatty must have been reading the recent posts on here about leaking sunroof drains...

I went out in it and by the time I got to the edge of the village the window were badly steamed up, a quick look in the back and the carpet was sopping.... (sorry for more drain pictures...!!)

The top didn't look too bad, this is the drivers side with the leak, the other side was similar...

I dropped the headlining from the front grab handles to the boot, to give a decent amount of room for fixing... Weird lighting on this, the headlining looks beige, it's actually black suede...!!

As expected the drivers side drainage pipe had rusted and fallen off, the nearside was ok, I pulled and pulled on the rubber pipe to test its strength and eventually the rubber pipe came off revealing a solid unleaking metal pipe, I cleaned it all up and added one of the Hep20 stainless inserts, bedded in epoxy, it might not do anything as the rust will get it one day but at least I did something..!! (the red hue to the epoxy is from the plastic stirrer I used...!!!)

I epoxied in a Hep20 insert to the drivers side but then had the problem of a 7-8mm insert trying to fix to a 12mm plastic pipe, I had a small brass hose barb with an internal size exactly the external size of the insert so epoxied this in and used a length of 12mm silicon to join the two...

I couldn't get any decent picture as the space is still limited even with the dropped headlining but both drains are now working as they should and emptying on the drive.... ( we have a hosepipe ban so the copious amounts of rain we have had has made fatty filthy Rolling Eyes )

Rear drivers footwell, all the little coloured wires run to some electrical device, an amp I think, the water had collected below this (luckily) and it was relatively easy to mop most of it up. I have a dehumidifier which will be in the car till it can't suck any more water out, I had to do this more than once on Fatty Offroader so I know it works... (the wood isn't original equipment Laughing )

Fixing both pipes took around an hour all in, removing and refitting the headlining and all the A, B, C and D pillars along with grab handles and rear heating vents took several hours, replacing the pillar trims is a juggling act...!!

Whilst I had it in bits I fitted these SV rear coat hooks that I got off Aliexpress many moons ago...!! (the yellow bit at the top is a reflection, they are all chrome..)

I also changed the door thresholds for the SV ones that I got on eBay for a very cheap price and never got round to fitting... cleaned up underneath them all....

I covered the alloy central part with PPF so hopefully they stay looking nice for a while.. the PPF reflects a lot and they don't photograph well, they look fine in the flesh...

(who is sad like me and thinks the alloy corner of the mat looks like a little monkey face... Whistle )

They light up nice at night...

Another weak spot fixed and a few more bits of bling.... Thumbs Up Pete

Nice! As an Autobiography owner x 2 I can highly recommend the PPF as both of mine were scratched to high heaven. Current one isn't as bad as prior, but polishing is 99% impossible due to the text being on top Sad They look awesome though - great find.

I confess to wanting those coat hooks also, not so keen on dropping headliner/trims though!

Jambo, thanks they do look nice, to do the coat hooks you have to take off the three pillar covers, starting from the bottom, they are a bit fiddly but the headlining stays put... Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig, really enjoying this fatty, still find excuses to drive it... Bow down Pete

Stan, with it being a 5 hours drive from here to Dover, we travel down one day then take a leisurely trip on the ferry, using the VIP lounge, the next. We have the first night in France booked at Forges-les-Eaux, then taking a week to travers France, booking hotels on the go, ending up meeting some friends at an Airbnb in Carcassone for a week, then off to stay with some other friends in the Pyrenees, Finally head down to our house in Spain near Mojacar, stay there till mid November, then drive home, should be over 2,000 miles each way so lets hope fatty behaves....

As an aside it only costs £80 more for two to fly to Alicante in Spain, than it does to cross the channel, so, add fuel, tolls (which we plan to avoid) and hotels and it's so much cheaper to fly, just not so much fun. We are looking forward to it....

Have fun on your travels Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks for that...

Latest little job, thanks to Andrew, RRYorks, for this, really does cut the glare from the gear knob surround... 1.5 mm thick and totally reversable as it's held on with double sided tape...
