I have a blanking plate on mine also. Only had it a few days before the modifications due to snapped EGR temp sensor, so not much experience in performance beforehand.
My motorcycle makes a similar noise when I let off the throttle.. Sounds like the pressure is recirculated rather than vented?

Interesting. Thanks for confirming. If it's not causing any harm then I'll ignore it

Update after my previous post Empire tuning haver now got back to me so will correspond and try to come to some arrangement

Just wondering if you have any updates on this?

Things have changed quite a lot in my case so I'll share a proper update once I have some time.

Having spoken to a few people round my neck of the woods re mapping and not having the confidence to use them (i run a small classic car and older LR specialist garage so when i get told we just turn it off and you won't get a warning light on i walk away) anyway spoke briefly to a friend and owner of a larger outfit that deals with more modern LR stuff it appears that one of the trusted LR tuners(4.4tdv8 not really listed on his webpage) can map it out properly and changes various other parameters in the map to compensate for the lack of egr , i'm going to be going down this route in a couple of weeks (friend is on holiday at moment) and will report back once tested , by all acounts the trusted tuner i n question had one for quite a while and did plenty of work sorting it all out properly , most of his egr mapouts go to Belgium and Australia by all accounts , I've been to the co in question about 15 years ago and the mild remap he did on my D2 was exactly as i asked and after 15 years and another 150k miles on a 90k engine is still running clean and sweet (yes i still have old faithfull waiting for a new skeleton but still runs sweet as a nut), hopefully by back end of month i'll be able to report back with a glowing report.
Just on a side note the reason for going down this route is map sensor is sooting up really quickly , mpg is down by about 8 to 10 mpg on what it used to be , way too frequent regents and when observing EGR on gap i have a difference of 0% commanded and 4.31% actual position with a 95% error at idle when cold and it gets worse when you use any throttle , conclusion is it isn't closing properly so feeding excrement into engine all the time , i could be wrong but we'll see , yes i've done a smoke test at 9psi and 18psi and found no leaks on inlet side .

Thanks, appreciate the update. Very interested to hear your outcome.

I'll write up more when I have the time, but I'm increasingly thinking that my remap isn't the best quality and perhaps an example of "it's just turned off", without considering the additional logic required for active regens. This is based on some recent observations with my DPF now at 20g.

There's a post in this thread that suggests the EGR is still required for active regens which I found interesting.

Difference in comanded and actual EGR value is I think normal as mine is the same. Likley it's self calibrating based on feedback from the O2 sensor measuring actual EGR content. Also if you are getting 18psi on an intake pressure test then no way you would have even a small EGR leak as it would not be holding that kind of pressure and blowing a lot of smoke from the tailpipe. The loss of mpg is a cause for concern but not EGR related IMO and if it's over fueling it will create more soot. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
