Clear glass or privacy if you've got kids or pets.

Apologies if already been discussed.

Whilst I've always been a big fan of privacy glass on our previous cars and SWMBO's to stop the interior and the kids from baking I have always leant towards the school of clear glass for the Range Rover.

However this year, primarily due to me procrastinating in getting the old girls a/c re-gassed ( everywhere local had long lead times) and continual high temps I nearly gave in as it was just too hot for the dogs. I got the a/c done at ATS who were excellent however the car as you'll all know was like a green house and just too bright for the mutts.

However, I think I've found a sensible compromise. Some quick searching online took me to carshades.co.uk ( I have no affiliation ) who for a very reasonable £85 have custom fit window blinds for the rear door, boot side windows and tailgate. They fit very snugly on the inside so you can lower the windows if want and they don't fall out. Took less than 5 mins to install.

They've been great this summer and now as the daylight hours and temps are starting to drop I can remove them in 2 mins and store them in the fancy storage bag they came with.

tbh i was thinking of figuring out a way to plumb the air ducts to the boot as well for the puppers cause it was very hot this year.

especially for short trips, since for long ones the car would eventually equalize but i htink they'd enjoy air blowing Its actually a sport Sad

Not anymore, 4.4 TDV8 now Very Happy

I have tried the window inserts too in a couple of cars, but one thing to note is that if reversing at night they block your view through the rear window almost completely unlike a tinted window. Tom

Fan

My dog travels inside a dog crate. I fix up a fan, plugged into the rear cig lighter, when needed. It is aimed at the rear window, and diverts a good volume of air from the cabin into the crate.

@mgrover : that's an interesting plan ! A colleague has a 2008 Vogue and there's a button on the centre dash (below the tailgate opener) which looks like some form of air distribution to the cargo area. I'll have a look at his manual to see exactly what it's for.

@Flashman: you're spot on, can make reversing a challenge especially as our barge doesn't have a reversing camera. Rely on those trusty inconsistent parking sensors. but they have been great keeping the back end of the car a lot cooler this summer especially whilst parked.

Hi Steve,

That looks an excellent set up; we have a dog guard for Abbot & Costello but may be poss to clip / attach a fan on. If SWMBO had her way they'd have some form of climate mat like ventilated front seats for the back.
