My BMS is faulty Mickey... Back with JLR dealer again this week 😤 tried a download with LR Assist but that didn’t work! So back for the dealer to rectify AGAIN!!!

The Jury is still out Micky! Once again the main dealer is taking their time Banging Head They've had it a week already Whistle "Mind over matter n all that!" They also have an FBH pump to change and a valve block TSB... So I'm not expecting it back anytime soon Thud

Still, keeps the miles off her! & At least the D4 gets a little more use now Thumbs Up

So, car back today with a new FHB pump, suspension knock sorted and the battery management fixed... YAY!!!

Registering batteries

Picked up this old thread and wonder if someone can help me.

I have 2 new batteries to fit and realise the batteries need to be registered so what happens and how does the reset tool know which battery has been changed - or in my case, that both batteries are being changed? Is this all done within the BMS? L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current
L322 2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE Alaska White/Charcoal - Gone
and lots of other none LR stuff…..

Depends on the reset tool that you use. I have a couple but using the iCarSoft LR v3 it knows there are 2 batteries and so you are able to reset each one individually. _______________________________________________

Quick question in relation to replacing both batteries, do these need to be fully charged or not ? Or Is the car clever enough to know the actual state of charge for each. Cheers B V

I don't know the answer, but I installed both mine as delivered, with no additional charging and it's been fine.

The BMS estimates the state of charge for each. I think that it will improve its estimate over time, as energy flows in to and out of the battery. In my case when I reset the BMS stats the estimated state of charge changed to 90%, though the battery had been charged before installation.
