I put a stainless steel one on mine. About £90 if I remember right.

If its plastic try Gtechniq C4 Permanent trim trim restorer. Brings it back to as new, lasts around a year depending on usage of the car |

It can be removed pretty easily, it just clips into place and can be levered out using a plastic trim tool with the lower tailgate partially open, give it a good clean then paint it using plastic / bumper aerosol paint.

I have bought some of this to try on my trim, but as yet, I have not used it. It dooes get good reviews, and tends to place highly in comparison tests.
