Oil service

Hi guys
Cars running fine, just over a month in on the SV now, still have this random diff sound but looking into that.
Car has full dealership history but as it’s only done 3k in 2.5 years the supplying dealer sent it locally and the changed the oil and plugs and it’s stated on the invoice trade oil and the total bill was £245 Inc plugs oil PDI inspection, yon might have seen the tyres!
So going to change the oil again so I know what’s in there.
So what are you guys using?
Recommend 0W/20 or are you using 5w/30?

We use 5w/30 in our AMG Gt s and it’s fine, and in my old Gle63s so why so light oil?

5w20 used to be specified for the 5.0 and was revised to 0w20 a few years ago. A lighter weight oil will improve cold start oil flow (but not oil pressure). Different engine designs with different requirements and clearances will have different oil requirements.

Most people will follow what the manufacturer recommends. But at the end of the day, it's your car and your choice as to what you want to put in it. Kev

The additives and how much soot/ash they create. Some oil specs are designed to have low ash to reduce how quickly the particulate filter fills up etc. V8 or else ...

Thanks for the reply!

Definitely worth going for the c1 then, don’t want to add any more problems to the dpf on the 4.4 v8 😂.

I've been using Petronas 5000 FJ , which i get from Opie Oils for about £65/10 L, i get my Indy to change for new filter and my oil when the dreaded 'SERVICE REQUIRED ' comes up, so tickles to about£150 all in, i get them to plug in and give me a diagnostic reading for that too (Oil Dilution).
It gets a scheduled service annually, I'm now into my own serviced schedule, as once you get to 160000M, next servive shedule will be for 192000, there is no service plan, so I guess you start from the beginning (16000) and carry on.

My car had an oil change 5k miles ago by previous owner, the service required has popped up so going to do the oil & filter change and send a sample for the oil dilution off.

I’ll get full service by indie on next service is 5k miles

Had the gearbox, transfer, 2 diff service 3k miles ago as it was 2 years over due

Thumbs Up very little need to sample the oil, unless you suspect other issues. For sure you will have referred oil dilution just believe the algorithm, as ignoring it will result in engine failure in the future. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
