Hi, my new to me 2014 l405 vogue with 58k and 1 owner from new had a 100% mot pass rate until the weekend when it failed on rear brake pipes being corroded and pitted. I'm getting them replaced this week hopefully if I can get it fitted in with mechanic and was wondering if there is an oem set recommended or do I just buy genuine. I've no issue using genuine parts if there's no OEM you all would normally use, just hate being ripped off by the stealers for identical parts.

I replaced all mine F&R with genuine JLR parts, couldn’t find any aftermarket items 2 years ago, they are horribly complex parts, with various little elbows & brackets etc.
When you do replace them, daub all the metal parts with Lanoguard grease or similar, these rust if you just look at them. My old rubber hose parts looked fine, but the metal bits were a joke.

EDIT: Do the fronts as well at the same time, the system is a right PITA to bleed properly, and they will all be the same age anyway.  V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

Can I suggest you soak the calliper bleed nipples on the front with penetrating fluid for a while, they are alloy with a plated steel finish nipple and can easily strip out the threads or snap off...

As a matter of interest, changing all 6 flexi brake pipes, and the fluid, is a recommendation on the 6yr 96,000 mile service..  Pete

Also, get all new bleed nipples at the same time, and very carefully wrap the threads (only!) in PTFE tape. This is NOT to seal, but rather create a barrier to prevent galvanic corrosion. This costs almost nothing and works brilliantly, I’ve done it for decades on all my cars and never had a seized one yet!  V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!
