Stupid Question....

My Courtesy light (in the middle) comes on when Open the doors. Am I right to think there should be map lights either side of this? If so, how do you turn them on and off....?

On my car the lights are switched on and off by touching the lens. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks CS. Maybe I have two blown bulbs as that doesn't work for me...

They are LED's so unlikley to have them fail, check if the vanity mirrors light up when you slide the mirror flap across, if not there's an unfused protected output suplying voltage to this circuit that includes map lights, vanity mirrors and some ambient lighting. Common fault is a trapped cable to the sun visor(s) which the BCM detects and shuts down the voltage until the fault is rectified - ask me how I know!!

If you have a code reader it will flag a code and in some instances the protected outputs need to be re-enabled.

Hope this helps L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thanks 4RRS. I will check the vanity mirrors.

I think you’re onto something 4RRS.

The vanity mirror lights are also not working. I recently had the screen replaced, so I’m wondering if they’ve trapped a cable. I’ve asked auto glass to come back and check.

I looked for an error code, but only have a basic icarsoft one, so couldn’t see any failures on it.

I think the auto dimming function of the rear view mirror is also on the same circuit and they would have removed that, I'll check the diagram when I get a moment.

EDIT:

Items fed by the circuit in question are: -

Vanity mirrors
Interior front map lamps
Interior L & R rear headling lamps
Glovebox lamp

On mine, I also lost some ambient lighting, although the diagram suggests that this is on a different feed, but then it's not beyond the realms of possibility for the diagram to be slightly wrong!!

If they removed the sun visors to do the screen swap that'll be the most likely failure point, for fault finding in the overhead console conector (C9LN28) pin 1 will be a brown /green wire this should be the +12v supply, I think you'll find its shorted to earth. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thank you again 4RRS.

My ambient lighting seems to be OK (for now!).

I've been in touch with Autoglass and they're coming back to check it for me. Apparently all of their work comes with a lifetime warrenty...

I don't know if they'll have the tool needed to reset the circuit - time will tell.

I found some other useful info, copied below in case anyone encounters the same issue...

******************************************************

Consulting the wiring diagrams there are two interior light circuits run from the BCM.

The first controls in the interior lights when the door opens (Circuit A), the second (Circuit B) controls the map lights, glovebox lights, vanity mirror lights and the main interior lights when controlled from the promity sensor switches in the roof.

The BCM checks for issues in these two circuits and if it detects a repeated short circuit it throws a

U1000-00 (Solid State Driver Protection Active - Driver Disabled) and shuts off the feed completely.

It also throws a secondary DTC ending 11,12,13 or 14 - in my case B1D14-11 Interior Lights Circuit B Short to Ground.

To clear the U1000 which is a permanent code, requires JLR SDD or Pathfinder to run the Ignition cycle counter reset process to re-enable the power feed,

I haven't yet found the source of the issue - I suspect its the switch in the overhead console as I've read these can cause issues, but as I can't reset the U1000 I can't diagnose further so it is off (reluctantly) off to Landrover to test further.

*************************************************

Finally got to the bottom of my B1D14-11 error which was preventing the map lights, glovebox lights and vanity mirror lights not working.

First of all U1000-00 will prevent any fix you make from actually working - the only way to clear this is with a dealer software or to run Enable Protected Outputs on the Gap IID tool in the Body Control Module.

Once the U1000 is clear you can clear the B1D14-11 fault if you have fixed the problem - in my case it turned out that the wiring for the passenger sunvisor had been pinched on install and there was exposed wiring touching the metal roof. Easy fix in the end, all the lights came back on and I can now use my piggyback harness for my dashcam too.
