Preventative Maintenance Tip For £2.76

Electric windows that drag (mainly through lack of use) can cause actuator failure, which is around £400 per door to fix at the dealer!!

Get yourself a can of silicon spray, lower all of the windows and spray it into the window guide channels. Do the same with the sunroof and you’ll be amazed how quickly they open and close again.

My previous source of silicone spray now only stocks silicone oil. I used a couple of drops on a house door key a few days ago but oil doesn't have overspray so a few drops here and there in the window runners might also work well. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

Silicon spray can also be used on door seals and anything plastic or rubber to good effect. Great results from spraying the rubber cups that hold the engine plastic covers to the top of the engine. Spray sparingly once a year and the cover will pop on and off as if made of butter. Any squeaks from hard plastic trim rubbing is also eliminated after a squirt and a day or so for the spray to dry and be at its most effective.
I got my last tin of it from the middle of Lidl where they sell the Parkside brand

While my sunroof was working normally, I did spray the seals and workings as best I could. At the very least the silicon will keep the rubber in good condition for longer and reduce friction when the panel starts opening.
Try it on yours to see if it helps.
