United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
flat battery

Had a problem this morning which resulted in a flat battery.
About 15 mins before we were going out, cos it was very cold, remotely set the fuel burning heater, When i went out to car noticed that heater was not on but had been on as the car was slightly warm. When i switched on ignition, low fuel warning light was on, so i guessed that heater had turned itself off due to low fuel. Tried to start car but battery was completely flat.
Tried to jump start from the wife's car but still wouldn't turn the engine over. Rang LR assist who came out within 90 minutes. He eventually managed to start car and tested all electrics and battery, all seems ok. What he did say was that the FBH was the culprit and recommended that this should not be used for more than 10 minutes. This seems a bit daft to me as the heater is fitted with a 30 minute timer. I had used the car yesterday on a 30 mile journey so battery should have been fully charged. Have to see what happens tomorrow but anybody else had this problem. Car is a 2008 TDV8.

I have had a flat battery twice on my TDV8, never had an issue on the TD6.

IMO I do not think the battery is up to the job, with all the extra electrics etc.

My old 4.2TD Amazon had 2 batteris the same size as the RR one and no issues.

I have now got a battery booster / starter like the ones LR Assist use.

If you get a flat battery again I could always nip over with my starter, as you are in or around Preston.
PM if you want.

Nigel

I have had the FBH on all week and when I get I use heated seats etc without problem.

The FBH also stops if the voltage is to low.

In short buy a new battery mate. '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs

thanks nbunney for the offer , hopefully it will start ok in morning-will give it a good run out. According to the LR man he says the battery tests ok but if its is us after 16 months then thats not good so i will have a go our men in Brock. By the way do you use Brock? i find sales team are good but I have had quite a few problems with service team over the the last 14 years, this is the 6th new Landrover I have bought from them.

For the cost of a battery I'd change it if not for any other reason than to rule it out, if you look at breakdowns its normally down to a flat battery so if in doubt..... '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs

ILMAO

Today my battery is dead - I ran the FBH for the full 30 mins - it was very very warm inside though Thumbs Up

LR are on the way now.

FL2 started just fine Embarassed

I'm then going to go and buy a brand new, good quality battery.

I'll let you know if I have further problems. '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs

Doc,

Seems to be the cold weather!

Let us know the battery type you get and costs etc. I bought a Bull Banner (or is it Banner Bull?) battery on the TD6 and it was about £75 all in. Still working perfectly too.

Had this problem this week.

Over use of the remote heater was the culprit. Still, the pretty lights that illuminated the dashboard when trying to start the engine was very festive. Wink

get a new battery that seems to be the general advice unless you can tie down to something else, dont forget battery dont last for ever and some times do have hidden past.
i had the same problem in summer changed the battery and the HVAC relay i have had no problems ever since

its a cheaper option for you Thumbs Up 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4
