Issue resolved.

I moved the seat to it's maximum travel forwards and backwards and couldn't see anything untoward after poking around a bit, but on restarting the car the light had gone out :shock ...

Thanks Stan - I had a quick look under the seat earlier when it was light and there wasn't any clearance to be able to see anything, so sliding the seat is a job for tomorrow.

PaulB - Thanks for the reply. I assumed that the airbag and seatbelt system were connected and shared the same warning light. I will do the check though.
How easy is it to remove the seat?
