Found what my problem was, there is an aluminum plate that protects the transmission, it was cracked and the engine vibration made that strange noise.
That racket must have driven you nuts.

Is there any chance that the set you fitted to your car have got a protective film on the lenses?
When I fitted mine, I peeled the film off before fitting.
