I had this problem. After investigation it was found that the front part of the ac unit was not 'talking' to the rear part.
Sounds like a dealer visit.

My seat did the same when used during the recent hot spell, i.e. cold base / normal back. I even switched off the base so that just the back would be cooled but it still didn't appear any cooler.

Point 7 above should read Memory 1, as per my post. 
Each key stores Memory 1, 2, 3 separately, so with 2 keys you can store 6 seat positions.
