Coming home tonight in the rain noticed that my drivers side wiper was getting further and further away from the A pillar , luckily i got home before it wouldn't wipe at all .

So when the rain stopped went outside took off the cover and the retaining nut to find that the grooved slot in the base of the wiper arm had sheared off …..

Anyone know what the tool is called to try and pull up the spindle so that i can re align the new wiper arm when i get it …. or know how to get it off any other way ….

Just undo the nut and gently ease the remains of the arm off the spindle Mick

Tried that John , for some reason the drivers side is stuck solid unlike when i had trouble with the passenger one a couple of gentle taps and it came off ...

There are a few different types of 'wiper arm removal tools'

Better go looking then might need one for tomorrow ….

If you're needing it off urgently bring it down and I'll get it off

Will keep that in mind John , need to get a wiper arm first ...

For it to shear it means its been replaced and not tightened to the correct torque before though, or right on the splines themselves so eventually they slip off that tiny bit and by that time already worn away the groves on the arm enough.

If you have an auto-glass shop close by, they should be able to help as well.

Land Rover calling out have been told its covered under warranty ...

Well LR Assist could not fix it , maybe if he had a wiper arm puller it would have helped , anyhow had to take the car to the dealers which was called in via LR Assist …

Dropped it off and was given a Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 as a replacement until mine is fixed ...

Should have been a 10minute job that Mick... what on earth do your local dealers do?? Test drive it and hope you like the new one enough to part ex it while its spent a few days having a wiper arm replaced???
