close to deciding whether to go for a s/c or not but i would like to know what kind of mpg they get..i've looked at previous threads re this and have a fair idea of the avarage but can you s/c owners tell me what mpg you get at 30mph, 50mph and 70/80mph .. ... - .- -.

Stan just double the fuel costs of your TD6 and then you wont be too shocked as you need to take into account the extra fuel for warm up periods as well, and dont forget, not all of them had the FBH so could be cold come winter for you  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You just get a TDV8 instead and use BioD to reduce costs even more and then you can get a slightly newer TDV8 with more toys maybe  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

My SC heats up very quickly, so even though I don't have FBH the heated steering wheel and seats keep me warm while the heated front and rear screens make quick work of clearing quickly.

If I cruise gently I can get around 20-21 doing 70ish, round town it'll pull this down to an average of around 18-19 for a trip to Sheffield and back. However I do like to zip around a lot, so I tend to have quite low fuelly figures. Also having it serviced and MOT'd seems to affect your fuelly ratings too.

To Le Mans and back I averaged 20+ mpg, and that's a trip of around 230 miles @ 70mph then 270 miles @ 85mph with 4 large blokes in the car (combined weight of over 55-60 stone!) and the boot absolutely crammed full of camping gear including a fridge!

It's very easy to bring your MPG down though if you squeeze the loud pedal a bit too much. I've seen it as low as 4 coming out of a petrol station too quickly and then having to sit in traffic.

4 mpg ....so the mpg's at each speed is approx 5/6 less than a td6 then..

@ill, the same mileage tdv8's seem to be about £2k dearer than a s/c so over a couple of years it would be roughly the same costings..

That 4mpg was from a standing start, in commandshift with 1st gear selected booting it down a clear road. It rose to about 8 sat in traffic for some reason.

Dont forget the reduced servicing costs of the TDV8 and that it will only depreciate at about the same level if not a little less than the SC as well..

I'd advise on driving both and dont forget the remap route as well to bring up the MPG more and get it not far off SC levels of performance

my mileage for the last 2 years is 14k so i'm not a high miles user , which having a diesel would be advantageous..and there's that satisfying feeling of joining the elite club of s/c owners.. .. ... - .- -.

its not just that its the low down grunt you get and which best suits your driving

Thats true and theres going to be another hike soon and diesel will go up another 1-3p/litre in the next few months

But like i said, avoid it and use GOOD BioD and save a fortune! its not far off LPG prices  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You don't need low down grunt when you can rev to over 6k rpm
