Had a puncture yesterday in the Mondeo... the Ford supplied scissor jack is far from the worst I’ve used but still felt flimsy and borderline unsafe.
Am going to get suitable bottle jacks for all my cars now

Think I've just ruined my jack attempting to fit one of these ebay blocks - my own fault BTW, nothing to do with the block at all which is a great quality item.

I got the original top off and when I went to fit the new one, I stupidly tried to tap it into place with a rubber mallet, which made the piston sink right down into the jack and it made a kind of gurgling noise as the fluid was sucked in somewhere. Now it has no strength at all, it pumps up in tiny increments with fluid coming out the top of the piston and it can be easily pushed back down with a hand.

Have I destroyed my jack, or is there a way to fix it does anyone know?

Well, at the risk of replying to my own post, I think I've solved it with the help of YouTube - seems it is easily fixable. I didn't have the new top piece fully attached hence why it was leaking, and it's just a case of refilling with fluid and bleeding the air out. Should be quite easy as it turns out, just need to get the correct fluid and should be fine. 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)

Does anyone know if the design of these jacks has changed more recently? The accessory unit does fit on a jack as described Mercedes Sprinter 2 1/2 Ton? Early posts here start 2014.

Dave - might be you are in the same position as me - the new block is a very tight fit (understandable since it needs to be a hydraulic seal) but it also seemed on mine like the hole might not be deep enough to get the piston in with the holes line up. I'm going to have another crack at it over the weekend to make sure

Thanks for your response and I was looking for confirmation that the ones advertised would work. The two items together aren't cheap but would be great for roadside use if they are compatible. Hoping you make progress at the weekend.

I designed the adaptor that is available on ebay. Here are the dimensions. I suggest you buy the Bottle Jack then measure it before ordering if you are concerned about the fit. Please note I am not a pro, I make nothing from the sale of these, I just did it for fun and gave it to the engineering firm to fabricate mine then suggested they list them for sale.
