Iphone 4S Bluetooth Integration Query

Hi Guys

I have recently aquired a 2007 RR TDV8 3.6 and have some issues with the bluetooth phone integration and thought I would seek some advice / opinion from some folk that have experience as this is my first RR.

My iPhone 4S (IOS 6.0) paired up without issue but I have the following problems.

1. When I select address book it only displays 2 out of ten times or so and allows me to search by keying in the first part of the name and works perfectly, however for the rest of the time it does not show the address book but allows me to dial from the keypad on the dash or from the iPhone itself and works normally.

2. If the address book does search and allow me to call, any subsequent call cannot be made by keying in a new name, although the scroll up and down works normally. Not ideal when you have as many contacts as I do.

3. The last number dialled and recieved and missed calls has never worked and these functions are greyed out on the display.

Is there some kind of firmware upgrade for the RR phone that I can download or be performed by my dealer?

Any suggestions advice greatly appreciated.

Hold down the home key and speak to Siri through the hands free instead. You don't even need to look at the phone, so it's as safe as using the heater controls, radio, sat nav etc.

That's as may be, but if the local constabulary happen to see you operating "a phone", it's going to be very hard to talk your way out of 3 points! Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I would much rather be able to use the system as it is supposed to operate. Do either of you guys have the same problem as I am having?

I find Siri pretty useless and a bit of an Apple gimmick to help sales, I am sure in time VR will improve but it is just not there yet for me.

I had a Merc CLS before the RR and must say the bluetooth in that car was excellent and I guess thats why I am a bit disappointed in the RR system as it stands.

Can I assume from your answers that there is no firmware upgrade or are you guys not sure about that?

If it's in the cupholder on a MY07+ vehicle it looks as though you're fiddling with the gearstick / terrain response / suspension / transfer box / handbrake / yourself. I am assuming that only the last one would get you pulled by the boys in blue.

I find that I can use the steering wheel controls to read contacts, although it's tedious scrolling through 200 contacts so I don't bother. I use the voice control button on the steering wheel to answer calls, and pull over if I need to do anything else.
