Front Heated Seat Not Working...

Hello all,

For some reason my front heated seat (drivers) has stopped working. All the lights come on the button when I turn it round and I wondered if there were any obvious 'gotchas' to look into before I get it looked at properly.

Cheers, Bomber. - Ad augusta per angusta -

first port of call would be to check the connections under the seat and the relevant fuse.. ... - .- -.

If all seems ok, test the continuity or resistance of the element using a multi meter, this should tell you if the element is bust. It should show continuity and give a resistance figure. If it doent its not making a circuit hence wont work. New element time. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Bomber, did you find the cause of failure? I have similar fault on mine. Lights work, fan runs continually for couple of minutes, then stops. No heating or cooling. Was a replacement unit installed by main dealer about 4 years ago. 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE Java Black

Per his signature, Bombers car is a Vogue

Vogues have heated seats, but its a heater element in the seat. Vogue SE has a heated air system

Whilst I'd like to see the resolution to Bombers problem (always useful for people!) the solution for the VSE may be different... 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Thanks Graeme, good spot. indeed you are correct, it's a heated /cooled air system that I have.

Anyone experience this failure? Lights on the control illuminate ok red / blue for heating / cooling. The (seat) fan runs continually for couple of minutes (normally it cycles on and off every few seconds) then stays off until ignition is cycled.

Thanks. 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE Java Black

I have a similar issue with the drivers seat. The seat cooling works fine, but seat heating doesn't.

jpickie posted:
Just had the same problem with mine, turned out to be the temperature sensor in the backrest peltier cell unit which had gone this also made the ecu turn off the seat base heater as well. The sensor is part of the peltier cell which comes as a unit with the fan and duct, was about £180 from Dan and I fitted it myself. IDD tool was very useful in obtaining the fault codes which pointed in the direction of the faulty cell. There are some pictures in my gallery of the set up and offending item with a bit of info regarding the operation of the climatic seats that you may find useful.

So we're not alone Big Cry

Got these same symptoms on my 9m old Westminster, right after I've just had a loom issue found/fixed - I also thought it may have been simply a tugged connection, seems not though.

Will be interested to see what this turns out to be. 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

My "lights are on but nothing happens" was apparently a "short in a motor under the seat' - whatever, it's fixed now. 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged Supercharged Java Black

I found my drivers seat will heat if you select backrest only (immediately after turning the heat on), and cool both backrest and base without issue. If you just turn on the heat without selecting backrest straight away it has a sensor issue that makes the ECU cut the seat out. Turns out that heating is closed loop monitoring and cooling is open loop so cooling doesn't get temp monitored.
