England 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black
V8 Burble

I love my S/C so far, although am really surprised how little I can hear of the wonderful V8 Supercharged engine I invested in and the noise that helps me rationalise the £6 I pour in every 14 or so miles....

I do not expect it to sound like my old TVR, but certainly want a volume increase from standard.

Cat replacement/ bypass is easy enough, but I assume need to replace the cats for every MOT.

Is there a simple back box modification? My last 911 had a really simple bypass option within the back box, but retained the stock look and just amplified the sound?

The full cat back exhausts seem expensive and I do not like the look of them. Any other suggestions? 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I had a full cat back, stainless system by Cobra, and it sounds fantastic; a gentle purr when driven lazily but a proper growl when in a more 'aggressive' mood. My system was hand made and considerably lighter in weight than the stock system. Yes, there was a little less ground clearance than the stock system, but from memory, it was also cheaper than the LR alternative. I didn't need a new system, just wanted one! It's your car, your choice. Cheers! '17 RANGE ROVER L405 SDV8 AB LOIRE BLUE with INDUS SILVER ROOF

Many thanks, sounds exactly what I am after Cool

Where do you have it fabricated and if you do not mind me asking, what did it cost? 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

After something a little more cultured Very Happy

Amazing that they exist. I love the idea of the switched exhaust, although full open May be a touch too far for me! 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

my 2002 v8 has an aftermarket stainless backbox. fitted before I got it.. unfortunately its a bit obtrusive with twin binoculars oddly either side of the towbar. sounds fantastic, gentle but 'knowing' at normal driving. but throaty but not raspey when called for . its a 'Kahn' branded one. hence the silly obtrusive 'look'. they come up secondhand, and would not be rotten as all stainless. I am going to mod my exits, to just have a standard 'SC-look' single either side 'out' as it looks silly to me at present.
I think it has 'straight through' technology etc..
some I have seen/heard are far too loud. but yes the standard is too quiet!

Had a quick look on flea-bay and it seems Proflow exhausts might fit the bill. Based in West Mids and they do a cat back conversion. Agree that a tad more V8 rumble would be good Very Happy SDV8 AB MY 2019

I've had two exhausts on my SC, the first was by Cobra Sport in Sheffield, which was a bit crap in the end but their sports cats are fantastic. The second exhaust was done from the sports cats back by Tony Banks in Leeds and it's fantastic. It sounds a lot like the RR classic / P38 / AJV8 engine exhaust burble but much much deeper and louder when you give it the beans. Cats were about £600 installed and I probably wouldn't bother again and the cat-back exhaust was £650.

With the benefit of hindsight I'd say the standard cats on the RR are huge and will easily flow enough for whatever mods you can throw at it (the gearbox limits max transmitted power to about 480bhp).

I spotted those this morning Andy and have made contact - looks great value on the face of it but no response yet...

I have had a couple of quotes back today and all better money than I was expecting and all happy to maintain the stock look.

Just need to find a spare day to do it now and budget the extra 50% of the exhaust cost for the fuel there and back! 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I really like the simplicity of the single pipe each side, but really not there on the twin pipes each side and stepped away from a vehicle early in my hunt because of them! The ones in the link look good quality though.

All down to personal choice though isn't it, many will be upset at me wanting to up the volume... 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

Hi Chauch, I'd be really interested to know how you get on. The proflow looks good and it looks like it can be configured from subtle burble to break all glass in a 10m radius! I have even further to travel from deepest darkest Kent Shocked SDV8 AB MY 2019
