MY07 Key fob

My key fob seems to have started to play up - it won't lock/unlock the car occasionally. I've done my duty and searched the forum/internet but it doesn't seem to be the usual suspect of radio interference as the problem arises almost anywhere, even at home where it's been fine for the last couple of years (ie since we moved in!)

I think it may be the rechargeable battery on it's last legs (version that's charged by induction) as it can't unlock/lock more than twice without failing. I've tried going for a long drive to charge it up (2 hrs yesterday) but it failed to lock again today.

Has anyone else come across this? If so, is there an easy (read:cheap) fix or is it new fob time???

Cheers

Thanks Stan - that was what I feared as from searching about it looks like a new key is needed Sad - I am so hopeless at DIY with these things I would destroy the key completely if I tried to replace the rechargeable battery

probably the battery they won't last forever, i bought a new key cover on ebay and changed the battery as they key i got on my RR was well worn, it had done 152k in 4 years, so a lot of opening and closing i guess. Anyways i took the old pcb out and swapped it over, put in new battery and changed the key, then glued it all back and it works a treat and charges. Works much better and the range seems better as well. I have another cover i'll be listing on the parts for sale in the next few days.
