My spare key fob for the SC was manky. The rubber cover from the rear was missing and the sides of the top cover peeling away. It's not a good look, and a new fob is hundreds. So I decided to do a DIY refurb.

Looks good. Wish I'd thought of that. I just made a small fuss at dealers and its getting replaced under warranty and my damage was a lot less than yours. New key |

quick update on my dealer fixing the keyfob - either I'm missing a trick or there's serious issues in quality. they replaced the brand new spare keyfob i had instead and gave me back this together with the old (clearly visible) peeling keyfob ! |

Hello to all, first post here so thought I'd better make it something hopefully vaguely maybe useful ....... LR now do a Smart key refurb kit, part no LR052905 at the strangely cheap price of £4.48 each! Fitted mine this evening, first key takes 20 minutes to do, second one done in 2 minutes.

Yes I should have updated my post, because back in December I moaned at the dealer about it and you're right, there's a refurb kit and a LTB about how to do it, they say 20 mins too.

Does anyone know what sort of glue you use with this kit?

No glue needed, just clicks together. Some side cutters and long nose pliers help but I did I friends key with a butter knife and a pair scissors at the weekend! |
