United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged Supercharged Java Black
Written off!

So it appears that if you hit a kerb too hard (ok I was doing 40-60 when I swerved) that you can damage enough internals of the steering to write off your car.

I'll be selling whatever I can salvage out of the car (mats, boot liner, IIDTool) soon as well as my winter wheels and dog half-guard as soon as I can get it from the repairers it's at.

For now I won't be in an RR for a bit, I've decided to buy an E55K and have some fun in a different form of supercharged V8.

Re: Written off!

By the way, maybe you should change your signature. Guess removing the 'in' would be more appropriate.

You'll love the AMG but it's a very different feeling you get when driving one.

Anyway, good luck with things. Don't blame you for your decision. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

Well I have an S320 CDI, which I really like, but it's no FF. However I could never get my FF fast enough so I think the E55k is going to be fun. Obviously being me it's going to get uprated exhaust, cooling and supercharger mods. I've heard stories of 650-700bhp on the stock internals and gearbox, so hopefully I don't wrap that round a tree before I have that fun Smile

I recently drove an S500.

Incredibly smooth and as spacious as they look. I liked the simple dash and the well-damped controls.

But, for all that was good about it, it proved that the FF was better. For me, at least.

The main problem I have with the S-Class, though, is that most are driven around where I live by private hire companies for Hugo Boss-suited executives looking to catch their Business Class flights from Heathrow. Much as the S appeals, I didn't wish to be tagged accordingly as either the executive or the driver.

The S320, in particular, seems to be the model of choice around Heathrow.

Take the geographical image issues aside and they're exceptional cars. Si. <This is my name.

My S320 is the 2002 model, and while it's very quiet refined and reasonably fast I think the 2006 onwards one is the better choice. They are similar to FFRRs in terms of the size of them can easily be forgotten, until you pile it into a corner and it tells you off. I've driven the newer ones, and same as any car get the one with small wheels and big tyres and it'll be amazing. If you can find one with something called "Distronic Plus" pretty much all you need to do is steer as it'll stop and accelerate automatically in traffic.

I like the pre 2006 models but they have an awful reputation for reliability and corrosion. Post 2006 models are now very good value. I've thought seriously about getting one but I'm leaning more towards a Jag - but I plan on keeping the RR.

The 2003-2006 ones are galvanised so they don't corrode, my 2002 is rotting slowly, but it's all cosmetic and doesn't really bother me.
