Like Stan says - - unusual for petrol and do you really need it anyway?

Yes - ok - that comment coming from me is not normal - my usual approach (SWMBO calls OCD) is if it is there I must have it working

Nice to have I suppose - the diesels only have it to help provide sufficient cabin warmth - could save yourself some money by "forgetting" about it.

I can confirm FBH is available for petrol models. I had one on my L322 5.0 SC. I don't on my L405 but to be fair I don't miss it in our climate! And it also annoyed me a lot as it never worked properly, same problem as you, remote was working, fans were blowing cold air, no heat!

Have a look at this,it may give you a better idea of what's wrong
I retro fitted one on my car, best thing on the car imo (they don't get used enough to keep them working)running them for 30 mins at a time is just not enough

Could probably be something the dealer needs to look at, possibly the ecu. Get them to fix it. I spent hours trying to get mine to work, in the end the dealer just put a new on in under warranty! All toasty now. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The dealer put a new unit under warranty in my L322 as well and it still didn't work (blowing cold air instead of hot). Very annoying but someone else's problem now.

Flame out would suggest that there is a problem with the ignition system in the heater, or the thermocouple that senses the flame is not functioning. A common occurrence on gas appliances, and as a result that can be replaced for under a tenner. But as for a FFRR, you have the Land Rover factor to add into the cost. I believe that the units are made by Webasto, it might be worth talking to them. As I cannot for one moment see a Land Rover technician stripping the heater and replacing a thermocouple, so it would be a service exchange or replacement. The other place to look for help might be your local Boat Marina, than type of heater is very common on a boat. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

If you can be bothered to take it out there are instructions on the net how to service and repair them, search for webasto thermotop, they are pretty simple pieces of kit really but seem prone to problems when not used over the summer. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Diesels have them to help warm up the coolant system for the engine, which in turn helps to warm up the cabin. .

Nearly but a bit more complicated than that , Cool when turned on by the fob or timer the heater closes a valve in the coolant system and all the heat should go to heating the cabin and once the engine is turned on if the the computermebob thinks it is cold enough it will continue to run to bring the engine up to thermal efficiency quicker , this is on the TD6 on the TDV8 I believe this was dispensed with but I can't quite remember so don't quote me on that . This valve I mentioned earlier can fail leading to some specific problems of heaters running but not heating sufficiently and on petrol versions it is just a cabin heater ( not much use to me in Western Australia). 2008 MY Supercharged

Don't worry Axle, you will be needing heating soon when the WA winter hits. I remember in Lagos during Harmatan (dry season) it got down to 21 and I had to turn on the seat and steering wheel heaters because I was cold Smile Smile Smile and that is no joke !!! My "normal" setting in the car and house is 25 C !! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I know mate , I'm just waiting for the day I start bitching about it getting below 15º C .When I show people the switch on the staring wheel for heating they look at me like I'm barking mad Laughing Poofters here would't last ten minutes on a summers day in Argyll let alone winter .
