TBH the steering wheel has been off since I brought it. Only by 1-2 fine splines (if it has them?)

Unlikely the wheel is off TBH, more likely the straight ahead is out on the tracking, last time it was tracked the steering wheel probably wasn't set straight....

To answer your other points, the radio will lose presets but won't need a code or anything, of course your MPG/trip mileage etc will go as well, aside from that, each time I've had my battery off it's been quite well behaved, never had to reset windows or sunroof etc.

Any garage that knows what they are doing will set the steering wheel straight, lock it off with a seat clamp and then adjust the alignment, if your steering wheel isn't straight it would suggest that it hasn't been done properly, I would get it checked to make sure, most garages will check it for free and only charge if adjustment is needed....
