So today, a bit over two months into my 3.6 TDV8 FFRR ownership, I got the dreaded bong that for the first time was not fuel reserve or washer fluid related.

As I was stuck in morning traffic jam I got the "TRANSMISSION FAULT / HDC FAULT combo, quickly followed by SUSPENSION LOWERED and christmas tree style illumination on the dash (ABS, ESP etc). Wow this sure looked as if the car was about to show me "Autodestruction in 10... 9... 8..." next.

Luckily I tried a quick google search on this and found out that the recommended cure is to just restart the car. Did that and wow, no more faults!

Wonder what could have caused it. Possibly my alternator on the way out? Will have to check voltage later today. I did a few small runs running errands and knock on my black piano wood the fault code armageddon did not show up again.

Funny thing about this whole situation is the ABS / ESP warning showing up as just recently I have sold my 911 turbo that has been literally eating MAF sensors throughout my ownership causing the ABS and PSM systems to go off and light up the dash with these warnings, thought these days were behind me, well, maybe not!

Where abouts in Poland are you ? I have IID tool if you want me to check your fault codes for you if you are localish to me. 2008 TDV8

Usually that is one of the signs of a failing battery, check you have 12.6 volts with the car switched off and 14.4 volts with engine on and charging.... Pete

Or alternator. Those symptoms are very similar to what happened to me when the alternator failed and began sucking the battery dry of voltage. Alternatively it could also be a dead battery as suggested by Pete. A dead battery is cheaper so check that first. ______________________________

The Alternator on my S/C went last Tuesday and gave exactly the same symptoms.

I got a new Denso unit from Total Parts in Skelmersdale (after being MASSIVELY let down by lrdirect) I think Advanced Factors (site sponsor) also has them available.

Fitted it in 2.5 hours and it's all back working now- charging at 15V with the engine running. I put the battery on the CTEK to recondition it but haven't replaced it. Formerly happymadison1978
