Hi all, came across this forum whilst trying to research/locate an oil leak on my 2013 4.4 sdv8.i had the oil cooler gasket replaced back in December 2021 and all was well until about 6 months when an oil leak was noticed on a service. I got what seams to be an intermittent oil leak towards the front of the engine somewhere between the throttle body and drivers side valve cover, it can go days with no leak, then a slight leak and then lots dripping from everywhere under the drivers side of the engine, when it leaks it's also spray oil up onto the engine cover (lots of oil it's soaked) and the bonnet when cover removed. I've check all inlet pipes, egr, valve cover and anything else that can be tightened and tried looking for it whilst putting the car through different rev ranges but can't locate it. Not sure if it's related but when driving if I drive hard enough for the secondary turbo to kick in it blows a puff of blue smoke, but once the smoke has cleared i can continue to drive hard and no smoke. I don't think the oil leak is a turbo seal as the amount it's losing I'm sure the tailpipes would be constantly pumping out blue smoke so wondering if anyone has experienced this and have any ideas what's going on as I'm completely stumped now.

Just as an update you can now buy LR orings as a part for the leaky Union.

LR wants £24.01 each so it can politely FRO. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

Less than £5 for 10 on a certain auction site. Viton BS611 - 8.73mm ID x 1.78mm C/S

I have some oil and definitely some coolant under this hose. It is the hose on the right rear side of the plenum.
I am not sure if there is an o-ring I could replace or I need to change the whole hose.
Can anyone help? what size is the o-ring? or any part number for the hose?

Thank you very much for your post, I have the very same issue on my TDV8. My Range Rover needs a new front half shaft fitted so I thought (stupid) the oil leak could be repaired at the same time, Wrong.
My repairer has changed hands lately which I didn"t think much of, so when the time came to pick the car up I was feeling pretty good.
"I own a 2011 Range Rover Vogue, have grey hair and retired, mechanical workshops suddenly see dollar signs and inflate the hourly rate or something. "
Upon collecting my car I was confronted with a recommendation to fix the oil leak, first drop the motor and gear box, this would make it sooo easy for the mechanic to find the oil leak and make the necessary repairs, while we are in there we will replace the valve cover gaskets and coolant hoses, no mention of the oil cooler yet. they are not sure where the oil leak is coming from so this is the mechanics recommendation.
Quoted work time to remove engine and gearbox is 22-25 hours without any other work being performed.
Am I being ripped off here or what?? I think so.
This is one job I will be doing myself.

Just thought I would share my experience with mechanics dealing with Land Rovers here in Adelaide down under.

am going to be attempting the EGR cooler refresh soon.

my last oil change was a nice tinge of blue so i'll probably be regasketing the EGR valve/new orings/brand new cooler/thermostat and all associated pipes there etc etc.

is it also worth replacing all the coolant pipes going from the rads at this point for the sake of 100quid?

also is it worth first maybe getting the EGR disabled so when I actually clean the donut it stays clean and I can install the blanking plate whilst in there?

also in terms of the flush for a new coolant tank, am i better off running an engine flush with the old tank, and some kind fo coolant system cleaner, then installing a new coolant tank?

That'sa new one on me. Any 'mayonaise' on the oil filler cap? It's usualy oil in the coolant not the other way round given the pressure differential between the 2 systems. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
