Engine cut out & now won't start

Hi, I'm new to the forum and after some help please. I've just had a service on my 08 Tdv8 vogue and after a 5min journey home from my garage, I turned into my drive and the engine cut out. When I now go to start it turns over but won't start. The garage can't help me until Monday but I wondered if anyone had any ideas? Car was driving fine before it went in. Thanks for any help.

Youre going to have to give more information for anyone to help what size V8? does it crank? When you say from your garage have you just refuelled? correct fuel?

OK sorry. Its a 3.6 tdv8. I meant I had just had a service at my local car mechanic garage, where I think they changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and diesel filter, but need to double check.. I drove to my house which is around 5min drive and as I pull into my drive to slow turn the engine just konked out and now won't start but turns over?

My first suspicion would be the fuel filter allowing air into the fuel system, if that's the case it will need bleeding etc. I'm not sure on the Range Rover try cycling the ignition on/off 5 or 6 times and see if that primes it with fuel, I may be wrong on this one but it wont hurt to try. I wouldn't keep cranking though, if the HP pump is dry it may do damage. BMW i3 Electric Car

Sorry I'm not very technical. So could it be the new fuel filter is faulty? Thanks

What AJG is saying is that when the fuel filter is changed it needs to be primed ie filled with fuel. There is a procedure to do this which involves turning on the ignition without starting the car. This way fuel should make its way to the filter and air should be expelled. Normal practice but if the garage hasn't done it or done it incorrectly it could cause a problem.

Another possibility is an incorrectly fitted oil filter as they have a little spigot that needs to be engaged before tightening. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I agree, sounds like a fuel issue.
