this is a great vid on how to change your brakes. It also shows somewhere the brake protector shield which you refer to, so should allow you to access it and tighten up.

My one corroded through at the fastening points - I also used the tin snips to cut it off - those 16mm carrier bolts where too tight (broke a socket) so I give up - I was going to fit a new spash guard in the warmer weather to - that was a year ago - must do it some day |

I had the exact same problem the other day, This can be fixed without removing the brake disc etc. Simply get a large diameter washer for each bolt that the tin splash guard has seperated from. Undo the bolts and redo with the washer in inplace and tighten. Its a tight finger sqeeze to do,but saves so much time.

You have to remove the hub assembly to replace the back plates, easier said then done.

for those that don't know, never ever weld (especially arc weld) on a vehicle without disconnecting the battery and or alternator - otherwise it is more than likely you will blow it or both. |

Noticed this on my FF yesterday and I think I will go down the tin snips route. Just going to go Screwfix this morning to invest in one.
