EGR blanking

I have just read on Joe90's album of the EGR removal, that at the end he blocked the vacuum hose of as he wanted to disable the unit.
My question is, i want to clean out my EGR while waiting for a blanking unit, do i leave the unit in the open position and also put a nut where the vacuum hose goes in?
will the engine run normal now once that is done and will it block up again?

Find a suitable size bolt or pin, push in the end of the vacuum hose, that's it. When your blanking kit arrives, their should be a blank metal stud that protrudes from the right hand side as you look at it, remove your bolt and place the vacuum hose on there.
you won't regret doing this mod.

If you want to clean out the egr, take a look at this video, not exactly like the td6 but very close. I would not bother myself, just fit the new delete kit and plug the vacuum hose. More of a concern would be the build up of black gunk in the inlet manifold. Now that is one nasty job.

i was bored during my lunch break. so went outside and pulled the pipes off the egr. i had a look inside and its got some build up, not much, actually more of a smear on the plunger, which is in the open position.
My quick question is , can i spray into the egr with some wynns carb cleaner, that stuff cleans, i ask as i am not sure what the egr is attached to, will it damage anything if i spray there.
and can i put all the pipes back and then block off the vacuum?
my gloves await me to put them on and continue.
