Hi,

New to range rovers but not land rovers lol, I am wanting to replace the piston seal in the air compressor (a bit noisy) The thing is not being used to electronics on my other Landys, Am I going to get fault codes up after replacement as there are (none now!) as I say its just a bit noisy so does anyone know if I will get any by replacing the piston seal?

If so how would I switch them off?

I recently did my piston. All went well with no error messages/lights on dash after plug back in.

I did make sure I didn't turn the ignition on whilst doing it just in case that would cause errors.
My car is a 2002 TD6.

Look at your drier granules whilst you're taking the pump apart. They may need reviving/drying out.
If not to bad you can dry them out in the oven, if like mine which were well past saving you can buy the granules (About £20).

Make sure you get the right one, with a 2006 I think you are on the cusp of the early and late pump... It's a Land Rover, they put in whatever they had lying around.....  Pete

When I did mine it didn't work and had no light on the control on the dash,got my mate to plug it in and he had it running in minutes .You may need the same reset.

I replaced the entire pump on mine as I found one for about £250 and as the kit was around £90 at the time and as I was planning to keep the vehicle for a few years I took the decision to replace the whole thing rather than the seals as I wasn't completely confident that the seals would do the job properly.

Even after the new pump was fitted the suspension groaned and moaned when I put the car to access mode but that could have been the age of the car I.e. Other components causing the noises rather than the pump.

The car went in for its service after I had fitted the pump, which was extremely easy by the way and the main stealer cleared the fault code and it never caused any further issues.

I've heard of people converting the suspension to coil springs, although why anyone would do that is beyond me as the car was designed the way it is for a reason, although it's frustrating that this is a major weakness and all of them eventually fail. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

Not sure that I would term the compressor a major weakness. On 'normal' cars the springs break and the shock absorbers fail. On ours the air suspension leaks and the compressors fail...service items in both cases...but I know which are the more comfortable!
