Both motors on my steering column don't work so is that usual or could it be something else that has failed? I have power to the driver seat so Fuse 20 should be good. Any help would be appreciated.

It’s possible that there is a problem but It could be they have been turned off. I switched mine off as I didn’t fancy motor failure. You will need decent diagnostics to access the settings though.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know you could disable them. So I was thinking of getting a decent diagnostic tool like the Foxwell NT510 so I assume I can get to the settings from that. Are the settings also available for the on board computer settings?

Not sure if the foxwell is capable of doing the job.

The weapon of choice for most forum members is the IIDtool from GAP Diagnostics. Expensive but will pay for itself many times over and the customer service is second to none.

Have a look on their site and look over the user manual, you’ll be amazed at what it can do.

It's worth taking the steering wheel cowl off before spending any money.
It could be that someone in the past has just dis-connected the wiring plugs to the motors - either to hide failed motors OR prevent failure. Paul,

Can't see on the GAP site that there is a setting for the steering motors either. Just have to do a bot more digging.

On a BMW era L322 its fairly common for the motors or the mechanisms to fail on these and the older these cars get the less likely they will continue to work. An new column these days is thousands. If you can hear the motors running (I assume you can't) and the column isn't moving there are fixes but if you can't hear the motors then as previously suggested, take the cowling off and check if there is power to the feeds. Current Fleet:-
