United States 2009 Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 SC V8 Bournville
2009 L322 Audio Quality

Hi Everyone,

I've been listening to the radio only for the past few weeks that I've owned my 2009 L322 Autobiography. I just today tried listening to some CDs and I'm very disappointed with the audio quality.

Being the Autobiography trim it has the Harmon/Kardon Logic7 system that they sell as, "world-class audiophile quality." I can't claim to be the worlds best judge of audio quality but having grown up using audio gear like McIntosh tube amps and Bozak speakers (I now even have B & W speakers) I'm used to pretty good sound quality.

The sound out of my system sounds muffled in the mid-range, lacking in the high end and it's very heavy on the bass. The only adjustments I have are on the treble, bass and subwoofer. Nothing to help with the mid-range.

I'm pretty sure that all speakers are working (I still need to check on that).

Am I missing some key adjustments? Could this be some issue with my CD player? Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a car audio system. But then again, my 2006 Honda Pilot, while not as good as my home system, sounds pretty darn good! Much better (so far) than my Range Rover.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you turned off the surround sound?

That sorted it out on my 2006 model. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Surround sound? I didn't see that option. But, when I enabled the LOGIC7 it sort of had that surround sound type of effect.

Next time I'm in it I'll look for that option.

Thanks!

I have a Linn/Naim system at home and am quite happy to say do not expect HiFi quality despite the hype! Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

I can never subscribe to some of the hype surrounding in car audio, however 'good' it might be. However, try turing off the Logic 7, I think it's terrible and everything sounds much better with it off (my opinion obviously). I'm not sure what it's supposed to achieve, but it just sounds wrong. Drives:

I too have a LINN system at home, tri amped and active..love it.... the RR isn’t really that good.... turn off Logic 7 as that is meant for surround sources really. I wound the bass back a little.

I don’t have the highest option in mine, the 1200w Logic 7 HD, only came available on the 2010 cars and my 2011 doesn’t have that option.

I installed a NavTool with car play, sounds pretty good, then again, my other car is a defender, so anything sounds good to me.
