Dan,

In answer to your original question - the rain sensor is the easiest place (behind the rear view mirror) - just make sure that after you remove the mount cover, you displace the mirror connector from its mount and feed the wires back, as otherwise when you twist the mirror to release it, you may damage a sensor wire (as I did!)

Perfect thanks! I have to take this apart to slip in my new rain & light sensor for my auto-lights upgrade. So may as well have a fiddle whilst I'm in there!

Hi Matt,

I have indeed found a LCM - £50 shipped from the states. God bless the US economy and its weak dollar!

All I have to do now is get my light switch back off Daveo (ahem) and find a rain/light sensor.

I believe I can then use PA soft to recode the Vin & mileage data stored in the LCM?

I've read that as well, but after trying PASoft on different laptops (older w/RS232 and a newer w/2 different usb-serial adapters) I've still never gotten PASoft to connect to the car...

It was a little tricky to get going initially and equally as difficult to actually use! But I could se it would be quite useful/powerful.

I borrowed it off Daveo a few weeks ago. Might have to borrow it again when this LCM turns up!

LCM and Vin Recoding

Hi Guys,

I know this was a log time ago but hoping with your experience you might be able to help.
I want to do the Auto Light upgrade - have the switch and think I've ordered the right sensor but concerned about swapping the LCM and getting a black dot - can they be recoded if they are second hand? if so what software is needed or is a need LCM the way to go and again if so what re-coding is needed?

Thanks 2002 Range Rover Vogue
