The trick is to keep on top of it - I never let it get much past 4 months between washes Whistle

I am fairly quick once I get around to it - non stop and I have a bit of a sweat on by the time I’m done.

DIY detail twice a year and waxed approximately once every 3 months.

Haven’t used a car wash place since one left a permanent streaky water stain on the bumper of my 2 month old D3 back in 2005.

It was still visible when I sold it 3 years later despite many efforts to cover it up Shocked

I clean my old L322 about once a month, the whole works, every other month the leather is treated with cleaner and leather food treatment to the Nth degree, a bit OTT I admit, but I find it quite rewarding, which probably means I am just a sad old fart. I also have a nice collection of James May type cleaning implements. Whistle

I usually wait until i have 3 or 4 that need cleaning! That way I feel I've not wasted my time getting the kit out! And tomorrow is that day! Thumbs Up Rolling Eyes

I’m the same. Won’t let the dealer or anyone else touch it. All my cars are well prepared and protected. Doesn’t take long to maintain them like that. I tend to do all three with six buckets in about 2 hours from setting up to cleaning up.

Bought Autoglym Polar Blast Snow Foam last week. Dear at £17 for 2.5 litres but seems quite good. The foam really hangs there for a while and it feels like it’s doing the car good when you get to the point of wash mitting it off (my procedure is to use the two bucket of water method to rinse my mitts (buckets get emptied and fresh hot water half way through the wash); power wash the car, then snow foam all over; then power wash that off after 10 minutes; then snow foam panel by panel, mitt wiping and rinsing each panel before moving to the next panel. Rarely dry the car though and if it’s getting a polish, it’s usually left to drip dry in the garage before going back to it the next day...
