Rear damper solenoid fault

Hi,
I've had an adaptive dynamics fault & can't see anything in searching that helps.

looking on iidtool had code
C110F-14 rear right damper solenoid - general electrical faliure - circuit to ground or open.

Cleared the fault & it will stay clear for a day but went over a speed bump tonight & it's back.

Any ideas wher the solenoid is? Or how easy / expensive it is to have replaced?
Cost of solenoid online doesn't look too bad if I can find it on the car Very Happy

Or could it be more likely to be a wiring fault? Suggestions where to start looking!!!

Thanks,
Rob. Thumbs Up 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

Wiring is guilty of breaking just at the top of the electrical connector Thumbs Up

The solenoid is inside the damper, connected with a cable plugged into the top like the front ones. The top of the damper and therefore the cable is inside the vehicle under the front corner of the lift-up boot floor.

I suspect a broken wire rather than a failed solenoid.

Rear cable damage is not too common.
The fronts 'steer' and break after flexing.
The rears are static. A break still possible.

I seem to remember a chaffing issue, not sure if it was the fuel tank cabling but the chaffing was where cables came through the body somewhere under the rear seats.

EDIT: ok maybe not now I see your picture
. Cheers, Greg

Yes, that wiring and connector poking out of the top of the damper.

Chafing can occur where the wiring bundle exits from under the side cover not very far from the right damper.

Thanks Graeme, looks like I need to strip the trim out & check under trim where you suggest.

Had a quick look yesterday & unplugged the sensor couldn't see anything obvious other than the wire looks as brittle as the front!! Now my intermittent fault is constant Big Cry hopefully narrowed it down tho..

I assume the sensor / cable is the same as for the front as I have a couple of spare front ones ordered but didn't realise the mod has already been done.

Thanks,

Bit of digging & trim removal discovered the fault, both wires had broken right near the connector.
I think it was possibly going & when I looked the other day unplugging sensor
probably finished it off.
Fortunately I had a spare loom for the fronts so wired that in & all sorted Thumbs Up

IiDTool started paying for it self now Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice folks,
Rob.

Glad you sorted it Rob.

So you had a front loom - but used for the rear?

. Cheers, Greg

Yes had a spare loom & tried it before wiring it in.
Front loom has the same plug & only difference other than thicker wires, it has a moulded rubber part that goes in the slot on the front turret. I left it on as it does nothing. Thumbs Up

I have the exact same issue on right rear! though i have just inspected the cable and it looks good? granted you cannot see much of it. I think i will order the repair cable and strip out the rear and replace as much as i can. is it possible it is just the plug is faulty?
i just cleared the codes and chances are it will be fine for a few days. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current
