No I just washed it with gtechniq gwash. The car has had a ceramic coat , just before I got it. But other than that nothing .

okay that is fine i have used that . idone my ceramic coat using gtechniq brands and always use a detailing spray after g3 pro 7193 rapid detailer when dry to help the ceramic coating last . as said you will have to go over it with a oil base product as plastic is part made up of oil base . might sound silly try a drop of engine oil on a rag or as i said duck oil which of the gtechniq brand wash did you use as i see they are marked with a c.l.p. warning mark ref burns may be why the side steps did not like it new vehicle purchase

I wonder if the steps have been refinished with something before you bought the car.

L405 steps seem to wear badly on the painted surface on the top so it's possible they've been painted before and it's just reacted with water upon washing. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Yeah I thought it could be something like that.
Just pull Engine oil on them like oggy said and after a bit of rubbing it seems to be fine Razz
Oggy will I have to that every wash ? or should it last??

Just watch out if you get that on the soles of your shoes as that could be interesting!

I remember rubbing tyre gel on a rag into my Discovery 2 rubber mats when I was a kid as they came up looking amazing. It was like walking on sheet ice in July after I'd done it. Laughing 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

mr dhallworth you can not step on them whatever next my god shock and horror 50 lashes thats why they gave you a curtius setting so you can slide in Shocked tiny might be worth looking at a more gentle wash liquid or keep them wet well when washing new vehicle purchase

the gwash is okay for your coating spot on its just the side steps i see the ratio is 13 ml to every 20 ltrs of water not a lot as it is not cheap stuff maybe cover steps so it does not lay on the top for to long or get some duck oil spray and use be for wash then wash and wipe steps over when you have finished washing new vehicle purchase
