Even in the image you can see a little more glare from the LED...........

The picture has been taken standing to the left of the light with the LED globe where the cut-off rises, but standing to the right of the HID globe where the cut-off is horizontal. To get a proper comparison, take a picture standing to the right of the LED globe to compare its glare with the HID in this picture.

I would also need to buy a new HID bulb and not the old faded bulbs I replaced - not going to happen. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

In what ways exactly are the optics poor, mismatched and unsuitable ?

I'm surprised you need to ask - if you get excessive glare the pick any one of the three.

I'd never go back to old skool bulbs now. Never had anyone flash me on dipped. All good Thumbs Up

You won't - because if an oncoming driver does have an issue with glare from LED lights and "flashes" they get a return retina burning flash back.

There are no optics in the bulbs it's just a light source - the optics are in the headlight housing
The LED light source is in the same place withing the lights optical system as the HID light source

I've just fitted some Bevinsee DS3 bulbs and I'm not sure which High beam bulbs I need to match them.
Can some kind person send me a link as to which ones to buy please because some seem to have fans, ballasts or just ordinary H7 plug in types.

I fitted these

They do throw a fault code when you do a GAP IID scan and there may be other ones from Aliexpress that Sam's motors linked. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Doesn't show a fault on my dash either - only on the GAP IID fault code scan. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks very much for the info. Going for a drive now to see if the new D3S light up the countryside.

The fact that the optics were not designed for the LED light source.

Modern LED's have the light source in exactly the same place as in the bulb they are replacing. It is also a smaller source than either halogen or HID, hence the tighter beam pattern noted in Stan's post.

If there were any light scatter, Stan's fence photo would show it. In fact it's less. Drives:

The LED light source was designed for the optics and works as intended to produce the correct beam pattern. No idea why you are struggling with this..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
