on the other hand, petrol L322's registered before 23rd March 2006 seem to be holding values now for the last few years

you can buy nice Vogue BMW 4.4 petrol engines for under 5 grand, some of these have FSH, some also have expensive LPG conversions, so they are pretty amazing value for money Smile

the bonus for cars registered before 23rd March 2006, is they are classified as Car Tax Band K, so only £315 for 12 months
they are petrol, so ULEZ is not an issue, they are not too expensive to insure, because they are less than 5k in value

the price for Autogas LPG at my local Morrisons is only 60p a litre Smile
so cheapish to run as well, using LPG costs me approx 17p a mile, but this is mostly motorway miles on cruise control !

when I went online to check my Reg Number

it looks like my 2004 meets the emission standards for ULEZ so I don't have to pay this charge when driving within the zone

I looked at my V5C document, section V - Exhaust Emissions
V.1 CO 1.972
V.2 HC 0.235
V.3 NOx 0.052


the Euro 4 emissions standards (petrol) are :
CO: 1.0g/km
THC: 0.10g/km
NOx: 0.08g/km

the TfL website only looks for the NOx figure to be below 0.08g/km, and fortunately all the M62 V8 engines from 2002 to 2006 are rated or tested to be 0.052g/km



The ULEZ standards are:

Euro 4 (NOx) for petrol cars, vans, minibuses and other specialist vehicles
Euro 6 (NOx and PM) for diesel cars, vans and minibuses and other specialist vehicles


Euro 4 became mandatory for all new cars in January 2005

The BMW 4.4 is Euro 3, the Jag 4.4 is Euro 4 as are all 4.2SCs IIRC.

My 2002 BMW 4.4 is listed by TfL as ULEZ Compliant....

It has been LPG converted and officially recorded as such on the V5 so maybe that makes a difference? "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

mine is also LPG, but not on the V5C, I must get around to finding the oriignal certificate and invoice and posting it off to the LPG Vehicle conversion register for free

so I don't think it matters whether it is a Euro 3 or Euro 4, what matters is the ULEZ website and that the emissions for this engine are below NOx: 0.08g/km

I nipped into the BCA auction in Derby this morning.

Two 2012 Westie’s going through. One Grey with 70200 miles went for £14100 and a black one with 96,000 miles went for £10800........

Was speaking to someone earlier who let a 2011 or 2012 VSE with 100k on go for £8k at the weekend!, didn't look like a shabby one either from the pics.
We mostly do smaller stuff but when buying try to avoid touching anything diesel at the moment, not that I think diesels are bad, personally I prefer them, but there's a high chance you'll get stuck with it for ages.
Don't think the sub £20k L405 being common is very far away at all now.

You might just have a magic numberplate, the TFL database is a touch unreliable.

I was thinking the same, about TFLs system, no diesel L322 will be ULEZ compliant.
Easier rule of thumb than even entering the reg on their glitchy system, if it's got AdBlue you're ok.
