Milk bottle sound help?

Hi all

On my 2007 4.2 since I have had it it has had an annoying noise like blowing over a milk bottle - it seems to happen at all speeds doesn’t ever get louder if going fast or slow - occasionally it’s not there.

Had the car since June and lived with it assuming it was due to missing trays and seals however I not have the under trays and all the bonnet seal in place and I still get it?

What’s interesting is it’s barely audible from the passenger seat so it’s definitely over the driver side...
Any ideas? Current stable:

Have you checked the windscreen trim?

I've had similar issues when one of the gutter trims was raised where it reaches the windscreen.

Some black silicone sealer helped hold it down.

it had a new windscreen in the summer (well two as the first one sounded bad!) so maybe? Ar you talking about the thin strips that curl over the top of the windscreen either side?

If so I might stick some duct tape over the sides and go for a drive if it resolves I will silicone- think that would work? Current stable:

Also on the lower edge of the screen to scuttle. When I had mine replaced they forgot to stick it down and it made a terrible racket though not until I got about about 30mph... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

^^ Yup had it on mine after the screen was replaced. They hadn't reaffixed the scuttle to the lower edge of the screen. 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

Yep, that's them.

I'm sure there's a fancy name for them, but they cover up the gutters on the roof.

Duct tape would do the job to see if it gets rid of the noise Thumbs Up

Where is this you are talking about? It it what you can see above the bonnet where the scuttle runners are on the screen or under bonnet somewhere?

The middle of the lower edge of the screen should be bonded to the scuttle panel. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Hi, I'm interested to know if you solved the problem. My 2011 is going in for service tomorrow, and one ofthe things I want them to check out is this wind/whistling noise starting at or about 80km/hr . Mostly audible from driver side but highly irritating at freeway speeds.

Thanks in advance!

Frans
