Do I need the tracking checking?

Hit a kerb 2 weeks ago in the TD6 and ruined the front passenger side alloy and burst rear passenger side tyre. New set of alloys on, gave her a test drive today for a few miles and it seems ok. Should I get the tracking checked, just to be sure? Or is a good test drive enough?

Most tyre dealers will check your tracking for free, only charging to adjust, so yes get it checked. Just make sure you use one with a computerised tracker. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

Cheers guys, had it checked and the tracking is out on the passenger side as expected

The guy couldn’t loosen the track rod end/tie rod end (are they the same thing?) even with heat, so said to get oxyacetylene on it to loosen it, am assuming any garage will do this? Then to change both track rod ends

Are these the kiddies I need to order?

And should I get anything else while it’s up in the air?
Cheers

A 'walk' to Specsavers could also be appropriate. Idea L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue. 07MY

Although it is common practice you should not heat track rod ends to adjust them, or any other suspension components. If a MOT inspector sees evidence of heat he should fail it, obviously if you are heating it in order to remove and replace it that is okay. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

Cheers all, think for the price I'm going to get both the inners and the outers and do both sides together, will i need anytihng else other than the actual inner and outer for each side? New nuts, or gaiters?

Inners normally come with nut but the outers sometimes come without so just check when you order. Fairly easy job really, would be worth setting up tracking with a piece of string so that it is in the right ball park for when you drive to the garage to do it properly 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

I’ve read on the disco3 site & RRS that Kwik Fit (for all the negativity) do a good job if they have the Hunter system. Cost wise there is an offer where you can have it done unlimited times for a flat fee over 2 years(?). visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk
