United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover SE Td6 Adriatic Blue

Thanks for all the replies guys, ill have to reply to everyone in situ

- kezbo1981, Its a 2003 with 180.000, im the 4th previous owners to myself. I havn't had it long. It came to me as a non runner on the back of a trailer I towed with my Jeep. It runs now.
I have spoken to a number of local bodyshops as mentioned in my initial post but something more positive is someone with an English wheel who is used to making panels for split screen VW buses.

- VeryDisco, thats an intersting thought. Id only reach to other countries if I could find what I needed here in the UK Smile

- BMG, I paid naff all for it really, as above, it came to me as a non runner/intermitent runner. It now runs Smile
I've got a little collection of cars and bikes one of which is a V8 Grand Cherokee so a TDV8 (The Ford 3.6 I assume your refering to) wouldnt be much use to be tbh. Plus I don't fancy taking a body off to do the turbos when they eventually go pop (along with everything else that these L322's suffer from. I'd need a ramp which I dont have.
This L322 has been looked afer in its years, good service history up until 106.000 (missing evidence of 3 services), i've just done the last one with reciepts, the last owner worked for a motor factors so the evidence of servicing was on his account.
Over the years, Its already had a recon gearbox at 110k, 2 new front dunlop airbags, 2 new calipers, high pressure fuel pump. The secondary fuel pump was replaced by me.
If and when this one goes bang, ill just break it and get me cash back that way.
I've got a E46 330ci that is on 110.000, seems as BMW have sorted the rust problem then lol, as there isnt any rust on it Smile

- pccourtney,MarkinCW5 - nope, not had it long Smile. Every car has its akilies heel, i've had 4 classics in the past which ive butchered over the years, jumped, green lane, 4x4 courses etc (sad times, they've rocketeted in £££ now). I'm suprised there isnt someone out there who does these, looks like a sizeable gap in the market

-DrRob - thanks for your efforts there, i'll send them the pictures now.

- jim4244, if my panels looked like that, id just keep wd40'ing them and making sure the car was dried properly in that area after a wash, so they don't get as bad as mine ! Remember mines done 80.000 more than yours.

-Triumph72, one of mine just fell out as was backing it up, neeless to say I trust none of them now. so up on the chasis its been going with blocks.

remove the jack rubber?

On the underside of the block is a pin, pull this out and then just pull the block from the sill.

Slight thread hijack - BMW most certainly didn't sort the rust problem out on the E46, you're just very lucky. The front wings rot on the wheel arch where the inner plastic splash guard rubs, the sills rot out and the rear wheel arches are even worse than the L322. THe E36 has proven much better in this respect (although no paragon of virtue!). Oh, and the more powerful versions the rear subframe carriers can split (badly), particular issue with the M3.

Back on topic, L322 seem extremely variable in sill rot issues. It was one of my main criteria when buying the two we're liucky enough to have. both 2010 cars with minor surface rust on the arch and no rot in the sills at all (had the plastic covers off to check). Remedial work underatken to remove all rust and wax seal with edge protectors fitted (like LR should have done). Drives:

Interesting, I viewed a couple E46's before this one and they did have the rust on the wheel arches (forgot about that) But I put that down to poor paint care.
Looking at mine now, there is now in fact a very small amount of rust on one of the wheel arches, Last year the calipers were rusty but I etched them down and painted them in black hammerite originally (like I have done with the L322 calipers) as they were the same.

I've had a good e-mail exchange with Ronnie Junoir, going to try and get something in place.

When there's progress, i'll probably start another thread saying whats been achieved, providing we get that far of course.

Excellent news on the Ronnie Jnr (YRM) front....! If they can manufacture sill and arch repair panels that will be amazing. I've watched their range grow enormously over the the years to provide solutions to lots of LR issues.
Keep us posted!

it will definately be a major issue sorted out for all us early L322 owners, if Ronnie and mazza can get these parts produced and stocked in a UK warehouse, fantastic news really !

Well, you could put me down for two pairs of wheelarches (& maybe sills too)). 1 set for now & a spare set for a later L322 when I replace this one in the future. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Well, the vehicle has gone in to have the lower sills removed today. They left behind some of the foreign material as some of it can be cleaned up and re used its salvageable (not much mind)
The rest of the tatty bits will get removed when the sills and part of the arches go to be refitted.

They didnt want to cut away too much so that will get redressed later on

Here are the pics in reference to what has come off, and what is going to get send off.

Theres not much and I couldnt tell you exactly what i'm going to get back, so watch this space

Who’s doing it for you?
Are you sending those bits to YRM to template repair panels?

I do hope Ronnie Junior comes to the rescue, the odds are that most L322's in the UK are going this way
