Does this look like water ingress?

Because of unrelated reasons wasn't driving the car for ~ 5 months or so. It has whole bunch of problems atm, approximately 7 modules can not be accessible by the diagnostics tool, including LCM, Transfer box, PDC & so on. All this already wasn't responding when I've parked the car last time.

But here's what I've discovered when finally managed to run it again. By the discovery day, it was completely dry, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before. This is a carpet at the Right Rear door, I know some crucial wiring goes right beneath this spot. So my questions are: does this look like a dried water damage? Could this caused non responding LCM?

I've replaced the module with no luck, diagnostic tool can't reach even the replaced part. Because it is LCM, my PDC does not work, along with green arrows indicators on the instrument cluster, no clicking sound when turning them on, same with emergency button... If so, how do I get the electrics back working and where to look first to stop this leakage?

I concur, typical water stain, the carpet has up to 6" of foam on the back and the carpet will be dry but believe me the foam will stay wet for months, best thing to do is strip out the interior and let it dry out, you can also check all the wiring although there aren't many connectors under the carpet, most are in plain site under the seats etc...

Have you had a good look inside the OBD port, a bent pin in there is common and this can cause all sorts of communication problems...!!

A few pictures of what's under the carpets

The small loom next to the big one is sat in Welsh river water, the big loom was submerged as well but both were fine as no plugs here...!!

Thanks for your reply & great photos, now I have a plan of what to do. Stripping the interior sounds so exciting! But now I have couple other questions... Smile

- Is whole carpet a single part? Or front/rear divided?
- Can I hook up battery terminals & drive (start/move) the car with front passenger seat missing, wouldn't that cause any SRS issues?

I see your point about no connectors, but still want to start with examining this loom as it goes from the boot where PDC ECU is and straight to the LCM. As for the OBD port, attaching the pic below. BTW, what are 3 pins sticking from the port cover? What's their functions? I'm pretty sure I've been driving the car with the cap hanging open for quite a while...

Carpet is one piece and goes over the center console, I saved a couple of hours and just loosened the console , pulled it up and cut the carpet both sides leaving enough to go under the console when refitting, it worked well and made it much easier to remove...

Beware, seats weigh a ton..!!

IIRC if you start it with the seats out it will chuck up some codes, I maybe wrong...!

OBD port looks ok, the three pins in the cover don't really do anything...

What scanner are you using..? Pete

Great idea about the carpet, thanks!
I suspect they should with all the things stuffed in Smile
I'm fine with some codes while that doesn't stop the car from moving, I'll not even notice them without a scanner as no warnings are displayed on the instrument cluster with the current LCM state.
The scanner is Foxwell NT520 Pro with LR/Jag software.

Never heard of that scanner but there are some out there which just won't read some ECU's... worth checking yours on another fatty or trying one known to read other fattys ok on yours before you condemn the car...... Pete

I'm pretty sure it was reading those modules when I've only purchased the car, I even have some photos of (supposedly?) LCM & PDC ECU's I made when first time hooked the scanner to the car:

It's definitely not the scanner, here, please check this vid to see the symptoms, maybe you've encountered them before:

Have you checked the fuses...!!

I still wouldn't trust the code reader, I'd want some corroboration that the faults were indeed with the car..! Pete

Those errors were most probably caused by the dead battery, once cleared they never popped up again... First couple months of ownership everything except Air Suspension & front blower motor was working fine... Than it started to rain & more or less at the same time "LCM" issues started Sad Once I even got my shoes soaked by the amount of water fell when I've opened Rear Right door after the rain...
P.s.: yup, checked the fuses with the multimeter just yesterday

Fuses need to be pulled to check them properly, if they have got wet then they can grow salts and can create a high resistance.. Pete

Have you looked inside the PDC module?

Yup, with no luck unfortunately. Haven't opened the case, just unplugged the PDC module.
Also so far unplugged:
- both headlamps,
- bm54
- satnav
- voice recognition module
- cd changer in the gloves box
- TV module
- multimedia display on central dash
- DSP
- PDC

With no luck... I tend to blame the i-bus, but what is strange is some modules on the i-bus still work fine: radio, display, DSP, navigation... But no LCM :/ Most of the modules are even seen through the diagnostics.

Also noticed that when I try to engage PDC manually via the button on the central dash, it makes a long beep, but does not work, though when I'm touching the sensors outside the car, they tick, like try to work.

Also removed the cover and looks like the carpet under the cover is clean, how that is possible Sad(
