Service history - this is a shame. Further updates :)

Still on my quest to find a decent rr Vogue .
I spotted one in an independent dealership.
2015 plate registers November and euro 6
2 previous owners.
Good colour/spec/wheels.
Mileage: 13k
Last 2 most verify mileage at 5k and 8k so if the previous first 3 years are similar it stacks up.

Now the negative:
No recorded service at LR dealerships. Except initial delivery at 29 miles then the records die.
I have the vin and reg etc and they. Any find records.

So are there checks I can make that would help verify things. The car looks very clean as if the mileage could really be genuine and the dealer took it in recently so I suppose they must have satisfied themselves the mileage was genuine.

So do I walk away or do some more homework, get a LR inspection and go from there?

Honest opinions welcome.

Thanks

How good is the price ?

I know plenty of people go with the 12 month servicing, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it - though 5 years is a bit of a stretch.

We have a mini that does about 1k/yr and that gets serviced probably every couple of years at MOT time.

It's a gamble, so price related IMHO

It wouldn't be for me. Also especially in London v low mileage might suggest lots of low speed stop/start driving and so potential for DPF problems. Only Range Rovers since 1988

being a London car. get the Indy dealer to warranty for DPF - also ask the Indy to pay for Flash Machine Service - or get it taken off the sale price

http://www.dpfcleaned.co.uk/services/servi...index.html

drive up the M11 to Elsenham ( we have used them for over a dozen cars in the last few years ) , they are just 10 mins from us, so I appreciate a good way further for you to travel to them, but they are one of the best IMHO

one of my friends bought an L405 with 8500 miles on it - 6 years old, and the reason it was cheap was because of the DPF

Price is 42k so not a total steal but well specced inc side steps, pano roof 22” wheels etc

FWIW I had dpf problems on my macan when I bought that but it wasn’t hard to get it sorted and 15000 miles later it’s been fine.

I can put a link to the car here I don’t suppose it will do any harm and the dealer is transparent and hasn’t hid the facts.

Lack of FSH is ammunition to negotiate hard.
It's also a diesel so you can negotiate hard .
And if it's a Euro 5 as opposed to Euro 6 then you can negotiate there too

Nice colour. Thumbs Up

. Cheers, Greg

I checked - its EURO 6 - so no ULEZ charge due for this vehicle

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle-35896

I would happily pay £37.5k - looks a good car on the face of it !

"I would happily pay £37.5k - looks a good car on the face of it !"

Im thinking this isnt going to happen, 37.5k would be too cheap - although it would be a good result for me.
I have actually been told by the dealership that the previous owner didnt have the car long and paid 55k Shocked
I know that sounds bizarre but maybe a year ago with aorund 9k miles on the clock I guess it could have happened.

I think i will speak with the dealer again today and ask if he can get me evidence of at least some service history, if I am contented that it's had a service outside of the land rover group i wouldnt care too much.

There was mention of GC servicing, who IIRC are based in Essex, which would stack up, as it came from Essex originally, so I may speak with them.

Is the seller in Leighton buzzard?

They appear to have a vast random selection, vans and commercial stuff usually advertised no vat. However the price usually is as high as one with the vat added.

Not too sure I would buy a £10k vehicle from them, let alone one like the one shown?

Good luck which ever way you go with it. Thumbs Up

I'd also check it is actually Euro 6 - the TFL database is not always correct
you may thin you are ok but they can revise without notice

Best bet is to look and see if it has Adblue tank

. Cheers, Greg

OK, so ive done a bit more "due diligence" main dealers did recall works in 2018, an oil sensor and mileage was logged at 5,300 then the company who took the car in 2019 (GC autos in Harrogate) did a major service and black packed it, grille and wheels etc, apparnetly that have a 2 million bodyshop and do this to a lot of their cars, recorded mileage then was 6,732 so mileage stacks up but service is patchy. Although the dealershipwho took it in said it was a one owner car and although lacked history, only had 6k miles so they were not fussed.

My thinking is if i can negotiate the price of a full Land rover service and healthcheck, say 1k plus squeeze a little bit more for good measure, I might get it around 41k and for a 13k miles with that spec it seems like a good deal.

Also, if i keep for 4 years, cover another 40k miles as my second car, it will have 4 recent stamps and still be only a 50k car.

Again opinions all welcomed, Thanks Smile

Must say, it looks to be a well specced car. It's got the 1700w Reference signature sound system and deployable side steps. Can't see if it's got an electric tow bar or not.

If you haven't seen it in the flesh yet, it could be worth a visit to touch it and smell it! 2017 SDV8 Autobiography
