United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black
New engines.

So Out of interest I went on the confabulator to see what my ideal spec of new fattie would be. Can’t afford one so it’s all hypothetical but I did notice that the 4.4 and 3.0 V engines have gone.

In, are the new ingenium mild hybrids. 3.0 striaghts with various power outputs. So we are now losing the diesel V8s there is still the 5.0 obviously but gone is the V8 option for us mere mortals.....

Anyone managed to have one of these newfangled built out as yet? Are they any good? I did notice that they have also bunged the same power plants in pretty much ally he rest of the ranges, and they have dropped the defender launch Diesel engines and put them in there as well.

Might be one to leave for a year or so until all the faults have raised their heads! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Bonatti Grey

There's a very much different view out and about on the net suggesting they are noisy, inefficient and have reliability issues. I don't have any personal experience other than a short drive in a vehicle equipped with one which was definitely lack lustre and not so good refinement. Oil dilution is stated by many to be a serious issue. BMW i3 Electric Car

Are you sure it’s not a stock vehicle? I know someone who works for JLR and he took delivery of one of the last SDV8s manufactured (fitted to a Sport AB) a couple of weeks ago. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

The oil dilution is a specific problem, which I would hope JLR have engineered out. It’s to do with the architecture of the car and where the DPF is positioned in relation to the engine. There’s a whole screws on the internet about it.

I would also hope that they have addressed some of the issues that have troubled the 2.0 in the disco sports. A mare of mine had one and it was in the garage for a rattle which was never sorted.....

In the absence of the 4.4 I do Quite fancy the idea of the 350hp diesel with some eco warrior credentials..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Personally I dont get why you cant just have a 3.0 with a P400e....the noise of all PHEV (not just JLR) and a 2.0 just gets on my goat when its ran out of electric!! all smug in my new plug!

Cue, I thought you could have a 3.0L electric? I have seen some 3.0 p400 MHEVs on Autotrader. Is that just the thick dealers not labelling them correctly?

Dolphin, PHEV are only 2.0. I think MHEV are not plug-in. P400e are purely PHEV. all smug in my new plug!

I always wondered how P400e feels like to drive. 2.0 seems small engine plus when the charge is depleted.

Been driving 5.0L Supercharged as a daily, now I can't drive anything less powerful.

Do you know the thing......if they had just not made a complete mess of my last service warranty saga I'd have bought a 5.0 by now! The thought of giving them over 100k just makes my p155 boil!!!!

If I can I'll go G-Wagen for the 4.0 but my business has been massively impacted and I had no idea when I was gonna get it.....tbh a 5.0 RR is about all I can see happening if I wanted a big petrol. I might opt for a 3.0 in a Defender or the 2.0 PHEV as I'd like a bit of electric daily use where my new house will be....as the nearest petrol station will be 15miles away.

What I'd really like is a RR Pickup!! I'd buy that in a heartbeat!! all smug in my new plug!

I’m thinking a bit about elec, first the smart, but might just feel vulnerable . Been keeping my eye on the Ford , taking orders now BUT you can’t see one . Lump of a car 390 mile range . Mustang.

Jaguar have one but... RR can’t be far away.

On diesel, now U see now JLR are dropping the 4.4 engine, puts them in the same boat as all the others... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

JLR are muppets - they just lost the best selling attraction of the RR - if they wanted to go down that route why not a hybrid version of the V8 Diesel - now they are just another run of the mill same old same old small displacement V6 - a RR is a luxury 4x4 and needs a decent unstressed, quiet, powerful and smooth engine.

It’s the V8’s that separated it from the everyday 4x4’s and dates right back to the launch of the vehicle in the early 1970’s

A RR should be without compromise - not a watered down that will do because every other maker is putting in silly small engines.

Sorry LR, but a Range Rover without a V8 is not a RR - you have just destroyed the whole ethos of the vehicle - thank god there is still a 5.0 V8 - just ! 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
