L405 retro fit items

I thought it would be useful to all L405 owners to have a thread to discus all the retro fit items that can be done on the L405.

For example: if you have electrical power steering, side assist etc. Then you can install the lane assist button and programme in the lane assist.. has anyone done any factory style retro fits in this respect?

I have ordered the android 10.25 system from Ray at android Aftershock and I will document the installation

Thoughts? And anything to share would be great!

You can retrofit the headlights and tails lights 13-17 upgraded to 18

Plus the steering wheel.

Mark1107 how is that nav working out for you? Any of the standard things like park assist, the eco menu etc not functional? or is that just the stock unit... I feel like I saw a thread somewhere where you installed the aftermarket nav.

Thanks for sharing Mark.

I too have installed the 10.25 Android system. From Android Aftershock in California. Great customer service. Although I may need to relocate the GPS as it wont seem to locate for some reason, must be the GPS being in the dash behind the infotainment rather than line of site with the sky in the window etc.

I had no idea you could retro fit the new steering wheel! That looks cool.

It’s androidaftershock on Rays unit.

I don’t know if I lost park assist because if you need it, you really shouldn’t be driving a full fat full sized truck. I love the navigation because google maps traffic in Los Angeles is the life saver. I’m in my car 2-7 hours a day and having the most luxurious car easiest to drive with the best tech now makes it so much better now.

I find it hilarious that androidaftershock is the best cutting edge technology that plays movies and has the best routing but people all the time ask me the only question is “ I don’t care about the 10,000 11 Billion 300 Million cutting-edge awesome things it does but please tell me about the one bad thing I’m gonna lose?” Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Big Cry Yawn Yawn Mr. Green Mr. Green

Cam tech craig and myself are the only people not afraid to be early adopters! I guess that’s why CTC truck is better looking than everyone else’s trucks period!

Cheers mate!

Charles two things....

1. The gps antenna should be under the windshield wipers outside,
2. 2015-2019 l405s have the Censored heated filament windshields that can interfere with your cell phone antenna, but if you make sure google maps, and all of your apps are updated you shouldn’t have the gps signal problems because I had the same gps signal problems until all of my phone apps were current updates.

Well it is a fair question. It does look good and the media tech is certainly a bonus but I wouldn't trade interface with any stock feature the car offers just for an improved media experience. Especially the auto-park, I really like that a lot despite knowing how to do it manually. Smile

If that unit seamlessly integrated all the stock features with the added media improvements I'd install it but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes I cannot lose that. I love how it scans all the spots, alerts you to the viable ones and then tucks you in perfectly. Be curious to know if that function is retained on the new head unit. Having looked at those threads regarding the install of that thing, it seems fraught with little time consuming problems I don't care to waste time dealing it. If it were just plug and play, seamless integration I'd place an order right now.

^ brad s1 - I also have the Android / CarPlay unit from AndroidAftershock installed on my '16 Supercharged. The integration to the OEM system is phenomenally good. Every single OEM function is retained and working as originally designed except for one: auto-park. (The parking sensors; reverse & surround cameras; climate; seat massage/heat/cool controls; OEM radio functions; OEM nav all work just fine).

Like others, I don't use the auto-park feature often, but I find it super cool to play with and show off. Plus, like you, I don't want to give up any OEM function, whether I use it or not.

That being said, I've been getting insanely good customer support from Ray Avant of AndroidAftershock as he works with the supplier for a way to re-enable the feature...apparently it is possible. The first set of instructions I received from the engineers didn't work, so I'm told they're working on another update. From what I understand, they have to do a bit of trial and error since their test vehicles apparently didn't have this feature.

UPDATE: There's now a fix in place for the AutoPark function. Go to the end of the thread for the details. 2021 P525 | Eiger Gray

With all things considered, yes if they re-enable park assist I would be delighted, but the pros outweigh the cons of the factory nav with android aftershock.

I know the moderators edited my posts but back on point, the steering wheel for 2018-2020 is retrofittable and the headlights and tail lights and the fog lights too.

Getting the cool hvac digital screen to work with our analog lower dash would be the icing on the cake. I hope one of the companies can work it out.

Ray is awesome and park assist will be reborn!

Cheers everyone.
