Better engine, and better gearbox as it’s 8 speed. Also more economical.

The earlier 3.6’s tend to suffer less with rot than the later cars.

Yes, I think as they went from BMW to Ford, and then Tata ownership, it seems the level of recycled steel used increased.

After due consideration and personal reason, I've decided to go for a 4.4TDV8 Vogue. Probably will look in New Year so will get a list of spec and things i want sorted so I can narrow search to my criteria. Thanks for all the advice it's been a great help. 👍 |

If you can stretch to a 4.4 I’d say do so, I’ve got a 3.6 they’re great and just because it’s a 3.6 doesn’t mean the turbos will go!, it’s hardly unheard of but it doesn’t happen to a huge percentage of them.

I just want best option, a great 3.6 will be npbetter than a poor 4.4. I've had many cars and always buy on condition and history. If you want a RR a Landcruiser will not do. Owning a XJ and TVR reliability is not a given, but I believe buying wisely with as much info as you can get helps avoid the dodgy ones. Hopefully!🤞😃 |

That makes sense, I’d not be put off by a great 3.6 either.

Well you learn all the time on here, i tested a 3.6 and 4.4 back to back and the 4.4 won hands down so i paid the extra for a car with higher mileage. (the 3.6 had FSH and 75k) the 4.4 i went for had 110k. I was not aware of the turbo issues on the 3.6 probably because i did not research that hard.

Excellent choice. Still love mine, 5 years in. I too came from a TD6.

The important part is that you like it and are happy with the price. As you say prices are all over the place...
