New type or EGRs takes exhaust after DPF, so its much cleaner and free from soot particles.
That should make a huge difference.

As it's sensing manifold pressure, could it not be modified to have a short length of pipe to the sensor? That would remove the sensor from the polluted airflow. BMW i3 Electric Car

A son used to have a Saab which had its MAP sensor mounted on the firewall, connected by thick-walled tubing.

It doesn't sound like he reckons there's a fault here, more that he doesn't like the engine response which in the context of this thread is quite relevant. Of course common issues can cause problems in this area, but and I could be wrong, it doesn't sound to me like Paul thinks he has anything more than standard characteristics he's not keen on...

Hesitancy is not a standard feature and sounds like a fault to me. Map sensor blocked, air leak etc. The EGR closes when you open the throttle so will only create hesitancy if it's faulty. DPF ( blocked or otherwise) will only restrict flow at high gasflow conditions and not at low speed so again deleting this will not solve hesitancy.

From what I've heard actually it is. The standard LR mapping of the ECU adds in a certain amount of hesitancy to restrict rapid changes in acceleration in keeping with the luxury intent of the FFRR. This is reason enough for many to remap, to improve throttle response. As I said though, there are issues that can exacerbate this but they shouldn't automatically be assumed. Everyone has their own definition of response and hesitancy that depends largely on background/experience. Cam

Mine doesn't hesitate but I notice when it does as it's telling me the MAP sensor needs cleaning. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I'm very new to the 4.4, haven't owned mine for a year yet. So I can't say I'm a self-declared expert. Yet...
Love it to bits though, I can't imagine a better engine for the big Rango.
Mine's remapped though. just shy of 400 hp with 800 Nm of torque. It's borderline scary, and hesitation is the last word that comes to mind when I floor it.

I have a 2012 3.0 TDV6 sport as well, and that's been an absolute nightmare when it comes to EGRs...

For those who have an EGR delete, was the throttle butterfly left fitted or removed? Also, do you know if the remap only prevented the EGR valve from opening during engine running or were fuelling tweaks included?

I've not read of the 4.4's buttefly being removed but certainly on the 2.7 TDV6, but I require mine's butterfly to stay fitted for my runaway protection.

The EGR delete that I'm persuing is mine's existing maps being UK modified but no other information at this time.

Does anyone know of (anyone) who makes a map that can be uploaded with the Gap IID tool?
I seem to recall I've read about that being possible with other models/engines.

How "strong" is map sensor? Is it possible to damage it when cleaning with compressed air for example?

I use carburettor cleaner first and then an air line at a distance to dry it out. I wouldn't use an air line close up.
I damaged a map sensor on my other car by trying to gently pick out the dirt and punctured the diaphragm inside.
Just keep spraying the cleaner in and gently blow the crud out bit by bit.

It wasn't that long ago that GAP advised that their tool could not upgrade the L322 4.4 TDV8 PCM in regards to applying a later LR update, not a map update.

The Atric Powergate user tool can write maps via the OBD port that have been loaded onto the tool by the Atric Powergate programming tool. I'm waiting to hear whether the user tool can read the current map file via the OBD port as the 1st step to having an EGR-deleted version produced remotely, but I suspect that the PCM will have to be removed and bench-read. I'm 6 hours travel away from the workshop and would have to stay overnight to have the PCM updated in the morning so I'm interested in what the Atric user tool can do.

I use brake cleaner as the solvent dissolves the oil and the directional nozzle creates enough force to blow out the soot. Poor design as it's location is in the EGR flow but at least it's an easy enough job to do. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Not true, there is a relatively common fault with the 4.4 TDV8 EGR temp sensor mounted in the left exhaust manifold causing the P040d fault code. The sensor is not easy to change given its location and prompted me to delete the EGR while remapping rather than tackle the sensor. Cam

Very easy to damage the diaphragm with compressed air. As others have said, use brake cleaner to clean out and resist temptation to use a tool to pick out. Thumbs Up Cam
